Job Title: Janitorial Worker / Environmental Services Technician

Responsibilities

+ Clean and sanitize restrooms, floors, doors, and high‑touch surfaces throughout the facility.

+ Vacuum carpets, sweep and mop hard floors, and perform occasional floor buffing.

+ Dust furniture, fixtures, appliances, and high/low surfaces.

+ Remove trash, restock restroom supplies, and maintain cleanliness standards.

+ Operate and maintain janitorial equipment while following all safety guidelines.

+ Communicate professionally with staff, tenants, and visitors; most cleaning is completed after business hours for minimal interruptions.

+ Walk between multiple buildings on campus as part of daily duties.

+ Assist with additional cleaning tasks as needed to support the team.

Essential Skills & Experience

+ At least 1 year of janitorial, housekeeping, or environmental services experience (commercial or residential).

+ Familiarity with modern cleaning tools, chemicals, and equipment.

+ Strong attention to detail and ability to manage time effectively.

+ Able to work independently and follow safety procedures.

+ Comfortable with physical tasks such as lifting up to 50 lbs, bending, climbing, and standing for long periods.

+ Good communication and teamwork skills.

Preferred Skills

+ Floor care and maintenance

+ Sweeping, mopping, dusting

+ Housekeeping or custodial experience

+ General cleaning and sanitation knowledge

Work Environment

You’ll work across a mix of office and medical facility spaces. The role involves regular walking, standing, and light physical activity throughout the shift. You’ll use standard cleaning tools such as vacuums, brooms, mops, and approved cleaning chemicals. The campus includes 6 buildings, all climate‑controlled and maintained by a collaborative team.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Hampton, VA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $15.37 - $15.37/hr.
