Description
We are looking for an experienced Supply Chain Manager to oversee and optimize operations within a manufacturing environment in Newport News, Virginia. This long-term contract position involves managing processes, driving efficiency, and leading initiatives that enhance supply chain performance. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in manufacturing operations and a strong ability to analyze data to support strategic decision-making. Prior experience working in government contracting preferred.
Responsibilities:
• Manage and streamline supply chain operations within a manufacturing facility to ensure efficiency and productivity.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to address challenges and drive critical initiatives forward.
• Utilize data analysis tools, including Excel, to evaluate performance metrics and identify areas for improvement.
• Lead client engagement efforts and implement change management strategies to facilitate successful project execution.
• Apply Lean, Six Sigma, or Industrial Engineering methodologies to optimize processes and reduce waste.
• Coordinate inventory management, production processes, shipping, and receiving to meet operational goals.
• Implement strategies for continuous process improvement and supply chain risk management.
• Monitor and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) to track progress and outcomes.
• Manage vendor relationships and procurement activities to ensure timely delivery of materials.
• Identify and resolve issues related to equipment maintenance and operational bottlenecks.
Requirements
• A minimum of 7 years of experience in supply chain management within manufacturing environments.
• Hands-on expertise in inventory management, production processes, and logistics operations.
• Proficiency in using Excel and other analytical tools.
• Strong knowledge of project management practices, including issue escalation and risk mitigation.
• Experience implementing Lean or Six Sigma methodologies to optimize operations.
• Familiarity with defense manufacturing environments or technical/industrial products is preferred.
• Certifications such as Lean, Six Sigma, or CPIM are highly desirable.
