Special Operations Team Leaders are responsible for maintaining team integrity, scheduling and assisting in the delivery of team training; assuring 24-hour coverage for response tiers; and being the link between the program manager; coordinators; and the response team members. This position works closely with the coordinators in scheduling of staff for emergency and pre-planned events and training. Must have a valid Drivers' License and a clean driving record. Contract employment for this position is contingent upon a successful Registry of Motor Vehicles Record check. This is a part-time contract position with no benefits. May be expected to take the Special Operations vehicles and/or equipment to any area of the Commonwealth. Vehicles and equipment include, but are not limited to, Incident Support Units, Incident Rehabilitation Units, trailers and lighting trailers on an as needed basis. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, scheduling checks on all equipment in their primary response district, driving the vehicles in response to an emergency, and taking the vehicles to scheduled events, 24-hours a day, seven days per week. The current primary response district locations are: West Newbury Fire Middleborough Fire (North Station) Springfield DFS Campus (Grochmal Ave) Stow DFS Campus Assists with coordinating staff to drive the unit to a scene for short and long term events anywhere in the Commonwealth. Team Leaders will also ensure staff are logging activities at incident scenes, mapping software, operating radio equipment, and completing all types of ICS forms. /*All persons holding a commercial driver’s license (CDL) and who perform duties requiring a CDL for the Department of Fire Services, whether temporarily or permanently, at any time will be required to undergo controlled substances and at our discretion, alcohol testing prior to employment and will be subject to further testing throughout their period of employment.*/ Minimum Qualifications: * High School diploma or General Education Degree (GED) * Three years’ experience as a DFS employee, a firefighter, a MA Hazardous Materials Technician, a commercial driver or in a fire service leadership position * Possession of a valid Drivers’ License Preferred Qualifications: * Completion of the National Incident Management System Level 200. * Completion of the National Incident Management System Level 300. * Valid Class B Commercial Drivers’ License. * Knowledge of and ability to operate computers and software, radios, audio-visual and telecommunications equipment are a plus.Must be able to respond to incidents 24 hours a day, 7 days a week when not on regular duty. *An Equal Opportunity / Affirmative Action Employer.
