    Lanier Technical College - Adult Education Department is conducting a search for the following full-time, grant-funded, FLSA exempt, benefits-eligible, salaried position.     POSITION: ADULT EDUCATION TRANSITION COORDINATOR

    REPORTS TO: Dean of Adult Education

     

    SALARY RANGE: Upper $50’s to $60k annually, depending on education and qualifications

    RESPONSIBILITIES:

    The Transition Coordinator serves as a support and resource to adult basic education and English language learner students regarding career information and academic requirements for admission into colleges/universities, along with support for life skills needed for student success. Ensures that students are provided a continuum of services to span adult education instruction from HSE graduation to post-secondary education and the workforce.

    MAJOR DUTIES:

    • Participates in marketing and recruitment activities, including community events, job fairs, and Lanier Tech events and activities;

    • Participates in student intake and orientation activities;

    • Collaborates with partnering organizations and agencies to overcome barriers to student goal achievement;

    • Collaborates with Adult Education staff to retain students through follow-up, referrals, and counseling services;

    • Prepares required reports and maintains documentation, i.e. Career Services report;

    • Meets individually and in small groups with students to assist with goal-setting, college admissions and financial aid, and career assistance;

    • Provides workshops for ABE/ASE and ELL students on career and college related topics, such as:

    o Resume writing

    o Interviewing skills

    o Soft skills

    o College admissions and financial aid

    o Digital literacy

    o Career awareness

    • Participates in professional development activities and staff meetings as required;

    • Collaborates with LTC Student Affairs and instructional staff to provide information on careers, college admissions, and financial aid to the students;

    • Follow up with students to ensure they are on track to meet their goals;

    • Coordinates the local EAGLE leadership program;

    • Other work-related duties as assigned by Supervisor.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Completion of a Bachelor’s degree in Education, Business Administration, or a closely related field from an accredited College or University;

    • Three (3) years of work experience in an educational setting

    COMPETENCIES:

    • Skill in the use of computers and job-related software

    • Effective skill in interviewing and advising

    • Effective oral and written communication skills for youth and adults

    • Skill in interpersonal relations and collaboration with a variety of people

    • Ability to adapt instructional strategies to fit different learning styles

    • Ability to maintain accurate and confidential records

    • Knowledge of alternative education resources (i.e. Plato, My Skills Tutor, etc.)

    • Knowledge of community resources within Service Delivery Area to assist at-risk students

    • Ability to travel within/across the Service Delivery Area (SDA)

    • Ability to work a flexible work schedule, including 2 nights per week.

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS (in addition to minimum qualifications and competencies):

    • Completion of a Bachelor’s degree or higher in counseling

    • One year or more of academic advising experience

    • Work experience with at-risk students

    • Work experience as an Adult Education Instructor or Coordinator

    Bachelors degree in education, business administration or a closely related field *and* Three (3) years of experience in an educational setting. Supervisory experience is required.
