    Clinical Laboratory Assistant - Lab Department

    Work location: Texas Health Southlake, 1545 E Southlake Blvd, TX 76092

     

    Work hours: Part-time, 24 hours per week Schedule: Tuesday through Friday 5:00am -11:00pm

    Here's What You Need

    + H.S. Diploma or Equivalent is required

    + Other - CLIAFE Must comply with CLIA regulations regarding foreign education equivalency is required

    + 6 Months experience as a phlebotomist or completion of a one semester course in phlebotomy is preferred

    + Phlebotomy skills are Strongly preferred

    + Hospital experience is a plus

    + PBT(ASCP) - Phlebotomy Technician Upon Hire is preferred And

    + BCLS - Basic Cardiac Life Support prior to providing independent patient care and maintained quarterly is required

    + Strong verbal and written communication skills. Ability to function in a fast-paced environment. Strong critical thinking, problem solving and organizational skills. Proficient in basic computer skills. Prefer: Venipuncture skills with all age groups.

    What You Will Do

    + For those entities performing phlebotomy; employee follows laboratory procedure for specimen collection, patient identification and labeling as appropriate for the age of the patient

    + Follows laboratory procedures for handling, and processing in a manner which is appropriate and follows safety guidelines

    + Follows laboratory procedures for handling unacceptable specimens

    + Helps other hospital and laboratory coworkers to provide timely patient care

    + Demonstrates ability to perform specimen processing protocols

    + Checks outstanding collection list

    + Troubleshoots and follows through on outstanding collections which appear to have not been collected/received when expected
