Pay: $50/hour
Duration: ASAP – End of School Year (with chance for renewal)
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:30 AM – 3:40 PM (In-Person)
Interview: In-person preferred, virtual available
Position Overview:
The Teacher for the Visually Impaired provides students with appropriate learning experiences and activities designed to help them grow socially, intellectually, and emotionally. This role organizes and implements instructional programs for visually impaired students, enabling them to develop competencies and skills to function successfully and positively.
Minimum Requirements:
+ Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university preferred
+ Valid state teaching certificate as required by Illinois regulations
+ One year experience as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired preferred
+ Current CPR certification (if applicable)
+ TB questionnaire, PPD, or chest X-ray (if applicable)
+ Current health certificate (per contract or state regulation)
+ Must meet all federal, state, and local requirements
+ Must be at least 18 years of age
Position Details:
+ Modality: Teacher for the Visually Impaired (TVI, Vision Itinerant)
+ Caseload: Pre-K through 12+
+ Support: District and state-provided equipment, some braille instruction
+ Start Date: ASAP
+ End Date: End of School Year
