The DevOps Engineer is an information technology professional who understands software development and solves IT operational challenges by using software/infrastructure engineering tools and processes to automate and standardize repeated release management processes. As a hands-on technical person, the DevOps Engineer requires skills in both software development (Dev) and operations (Ops).
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
+ Proactively observes engineering practices and recommends systems to solve problems or alleviate pain points
+ Builds automation tools to support the software development and infrastructure operations teams (database, network, server, patching, etc.)
+ Deploys and manages on premise or cloud development and shared services technical computing services support our product development team
+ Works closely with both internal and external software development resources as well as IT/network operations and the users of our solutions
+ Provides professional support services and/or the integration of their respective products
+ Supports and maintains the architecture of product release and delivery technologies
+ Supports the development life cycle of platform architectural design, deployment and debugging
+ Builds release pipeline to enable fast, but safe delivery of critical business software to Production
+ Develops & Maintains sound version control best practices-based CM systems (GIT or VSTS), including branching and merging strategies
+ Participates in all agile phases including planning, grooming, product demonstration and team retrospectives.
+ Ability to automate release deployments across development, test, staging, Quality Assurance and production stacks using a combination of scripting languages and other automation toolkits
+ Sets-up up new sites and applications via configuration management tools
+ Maintains / upgrades / patches tracking and documentation software
+ Assists in design and maintenance web service infrastructure and deployments
+ Analyzes service stack and make recommendations for further improvements based on DevOps best practice
+ Identifies processes and capabilities that can be streamlined and automated
+ Communicates effectively to help bridge stakeholder and development requirements
+ Assists with support and operations where necessary
+ Maintains confidentiality with regard to information being processed, stored, or accessed
+ Leverage scripting/programming languages such as PowerShell, Python, Ruby, Perl, etc.
+ Ability to have a holistic view of service development and deployment architecture
+ Works alongside Information Security team to ensure that security vulnerabilities are addressed and security best practices are embedded throughout infrastructure implementation and application development and deployment.
Minimum Requirements:
+ A Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university with a major in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Business, or other related scientific or technical discipline
+ This position requires a minimum of six (6) years of experience in developing and supporting DevOps CI/CD pipeline
+ At least four (4) years of experience working with design and implementation of systems and applications under popular platforms eg. MS Azure, AWS, GCD, etc.
+ Knowledge of popular platforms platform capabilities and best practices architectures, and engineering solutions within multiple Cloud accounts and services
+ Experience working in cloud resources via the CLI and management console
+ DevOps Engineer certification is preferred
+ 5 years managing diverse DevOps workloads, across infrastructure, administration, deployment, development support and monitoring preferred
+ 3 Experience with automation and configuration management preferred
+ 3 years of MS administration experience, including High Availability, Redhat, and patch management preferred
+ 3 years of experience in managing and deploying environments in MS Azure or other popular cloud based platforms
+ 3 years of experience working with containerization, orchestration, and service discovery experience on both Windows and Linux hosts, using container based technology like docker and/or ECS preferred
+ 3 years’ experience with VSTS/Azure DevOps or similar version control systems, including branching, tagging, merging, and release management
+ Knowledge of infrastructure orchestration tools preferred
+ Ability to multi-task easily and juggle priorities in a fast-paced environment
+ Ability to learn new technologies and explain the differences and opportunities to technical and nontechnical team members
+ Experience working with various SQL, NoSQL Databases such as MS SQL, MySQL, etc.
+ Experience configuring and deploying Microsoft based applications
