Special Education Teacher – $58/hr – Scappoose, OR – In-Person – 5 Months

Position Overview:

We are seeking a Special Education Teacher to provide quality services to students in a specialized setting. This position involves working alongside a 5th-grade student with severe behavioral and medical needs, requiring a teacher with prior experience and comfort working with significant challenges. Under the direction of the Special Education Program Administrator, this role includes planning and implementing individualized programs, providing special instruction, and collaborating with general education staff to support student success.

Assignment Details:

+ Location: Scappoose, OR

+ Start Date: February 2, 2026

+ End Date: End of school year (approximately 5 months)

+ Schedule: Monday–Friday

+ Hours: 40 per week (30-min unpaid break)

+ Duration: 5 months (option to renew for 2026–2027 school year)

+ Pay Rate: $58/hour

+ Modality: In-person only

+ Openings: 1 position

+ Interview: Virtual

+ Caseload: Primary assignment is one student with severe needs; inclusion classroom support and case management required

+ Student Details: Severe behaviors, seizure disorder, Pica, dysregulation, non-verbal, toileting, AAC device, elopement, hitting/kicking/biting

Responsibilities:

+ Provide individualized instruction and behavioral support

+ Monitor and assist with medical and behavioral needs

+ Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and classroom staff

+ Maintain compliance with all state and federal regulations

Requirements:

+ Active Oregon Special Education teaching license

+ Previous experience working with extreme behaviors required

+ Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university (preferred)

+ Minimum of one year teaching experience (preferred)

+ Current CPR certification (if applicable)

+ TB questionnaire, PPD or chest X-ray (if applicable)

+ Current health certificate (per contract or state regulation)

+ Must meet all federal, state, and local requirements

+ Must be at least 18 years of age
