LTAC Registered Nurse (RN)
The LTAC RN is a highly skilled and compassionate nursing professional responsible for delivering specialized care to patients with complex, long-term medical needs. This role requires strong clinical judgment, attention to detail, and the ability to respond quickly to changes in patient condition. The RN works closely with physicians, interdisciplinary teams, and support staff to provide safe, effective, and patient-centered care in a high-acuity, extended-stay environment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
• Apply the nursing process to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate care for medically complex patients
• Conduct comprehensive assessments including vital signs, physical exams, health histories, and monitoring of chronic conditions
• Administer medications, IV therapies, wound care, and other treatments as prescribed
• Monitor patients for signs of infection, respiratory distress, cardiac changes, and other complications
• Accurately document patient responses and changes in condition in the electronic health record (EHR)
• Collaborate with healthcare providers to develop and adjust individualized care plans
• Educate patients and families on disease processes, medications, and discharge planning
• Maintain adherence to infection control, safety, and quality standards
• Respond promptly to emergencies such as sepsis, respiratory failure, or code situations
• Advocate for patients and uphold confidentiality and patient rights
Minimum Requirements
• Current Registered Nurse License in the state of practice
• Minimum one year of professional nursing experience; LTAC, ICU, or Med-Surg experience preferred
• Completion of Amergis' Competency Program (if applicable)
• Current BLS certification (ACLS preferred)
• Proficiency in managing ventilators, wound care, and telemetry monitoring (if applicable)
• TB screening and health clearance (as required)
• Compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations
• Successful completion of new hire orientation and LTAC-specific training
• Understanding of patient confidentiality and HIPAA regulations
• Strong communication skills and proficiency in English
• Basic computer literacy
• Must be at least 18 years of age
