As a Professional Staff Nurse - Operating Room, you'll play a key role in supporting our Ambulatory Surgery Center, a fast-paced, high-energy OR environment where no two days are the same. You'll set the standard for clinical excellence while delivering exceptional, patient-centered surgical care in collaboration with surgeons, anesthesia, and interdisciplinary partners.

What You'll Do
Deliver Exceptional, Relationship-Based Care
+ Use the nursing process within a Relationship-Based Care framework to create a compassionate, healing environment.
+ Partner with patients and families to develop daily goals and individualized plans of care that address clinical, emotional, social, and spiritual needs.
+ Apply critical thinking to assess patient conditions and confidently communicate recommendations to the interdisciplinary team.
+ Maintain clear, comprehensive documentation that supports continuity of care, patient safety, and quality outcomes.
Educate, Mentor, and Inspire
+ Apply adult (and pediatric, when applicable) learning principles to educate patients and families throughout the care journey-from admission through discharge.
+ Support and mentor students, new team members, and peers; serve as a preceptor when appropriate.
+ Foster a culture of curiosity, open dialogue, and continuous learning by seeking and providing feedback to improve practice.

Clinical Knowledge & Patient-Centered Care
+ Demonstrated knowledge and skills to provide age-appropriate care to the patient populations served, grounded in principles of growth and development across the lifespan.
+ Ability to assess patient data, interpret findings, and deliver care aligned with departmental policies and procedures.
+ Strong clinical judgment with well-developed critical thinking, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
+ Ability to lead and support others in applying the nursing process to deliver high-quality care.
Experience & Education
+ 0-2 years of nursing experience required.
+ Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.

+ Proven ability to build positive, caring relationships with physicians, executives, leaders, interdisciplinary teams, patients, and families.
+ Comfortable working in a fast-paced, complex environment with changing priorities and specialized equipment.

Physical Requirements
+ Mobility, visual acuity, and manual dexterity required.
+ Physical stamina to support frequent standing, walking, lifting, and patient positioning.
Licensure, Certifications & Clearances
+ Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state where the facility is located or a valid multistate license through the Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC).
+ Graduate Nurses must successfully complete the RN licensure examination within six (6) months of hire or within one year of graduation-whichever comes first.
+ Temporary Practice Permits (TPP) accepted per policy.
+ Basic Life Support (BLS) or CPR certification required in accordance with AHA standards within 30 days of hire.
+ UPMC-approved national certification preferred.
+ Nurses working under an out-of-state NLC license who establish residency in the facility's state must apply for in-state licensure within 60 days.
