Job Description
As a Junior Product Development Engineer for the Hardgoods category, you'll use your exceptional skills and knowledge of products and processes to bring innovative designs to completion. Your focus will be to develop quality, on-time, cost-effective MX and MTB products that are an accurate reflection of Fox Racing, Giro, and Bell’s position as industry leaders.
This position reports to the Engineering Manager.
As** **the** **Junior Product Development** **Engineer,** **you will have an opportunity to:
+ Strive to create the most innovative and market leading hardgoods product possible. Products will be evaluated for success using the following criteria: Innovation, function, fit, comfort, relevance to brand identity, technologyutilization, quality, aesthetics,timelycompletion, manufacturability and realized margins.
+ Closely workwith Marketing and Design as a team to brainstorm innovative market leading ideas and concepts.
+ Prepare and present project information to the Design and Marketing teams for review and decision making.
+ Review and prioritizeperformance and style to properly incorporate them into products. Visualizeperformance and styling goals and create solutions to achieve them.
+ Perform CAD work both internally and with Vendor asappropriate fromconcept through production.
+ Working with Design and the vendor, create and evaluate functional prototypes to verify design intent.
+ Create andmaintainproject documentation such as 3D CAD files, engineering drawings, spec sheets, bill of materials, project schedules, etc.
+ Manage project scope and schedule to meet project deliverables and deadlines.
+ Develop cost analysis of design proposals, conduct vendor quotations, trackproject costs to meet product design goals under the guidance of a manager.
+ Deeply understand applicable safety standards and evaluate designs and solutions to meet them.
+ Visit the vendor’smanufacturing facilities to sample and commercialize the intended product design. Study vendor’s development techniques, production processes, and technological capabilities to enhance professional knowledge, further vendorrelationship, andassistin the innovation of product design/development.
+ Communicate internally and with international factories andvendors,both verbally and in writing, critical and pertinent information that is needed in the development process.
+ Research and evaluate new materials, manufacturingprocesses , and trends that may be used for product innovation.
+ Help to build andmaintaina comprehensivematerials and trims library.
You have:
+ 4-year degree in Mechanical Engineering (BSME) or equivalent work experience
+ An enthusiastic and positive attitude with a passion towards MX,MTBand Action Sports. Must bevery creative, forward thinking, an energy giver - not a taker.
+ CAD experience, preferably proficient inSolidworks.
You might have:
+ Previousdevelopment/engineering experience in helmets or molded plastic protective sport products
+ Prior experience working with overseas factories and vendors
+ Experience engineering compression molds and parts
+ Experience engineering injection molds, working withplastic parts and 3D modeling
+ Knowledge of plastics, textiles, and embellishment techniques
Pay Range:
Annual Salary: $71,500.00 - $86,000.00
The actual annual salary offered to a candidate will be based on variables including experience, geographic location, education, and skills/achievements, and will be mutually agreed upon at the time of offer.
