Custom Job Purpose:
This position exists to perform responsible work dealing with student and staff data base information and to support technical and training activities provided by Information Services to district office and school-based Student Information System users.
Essential Functions of this Job
Assists in managing and coordinating information processing systems, operations, and applications. Perform analysis, identify problems and solutions, makes recommendations, and evaluate results with regards to the development and enhancement of our student information system. Test changes implemented into the student information system. Provide assistance in developing user documentation and procedures, monitor implementation of procedures and provide user training. Provide the technical assistance necessary to insure data accuracy. Provide Level 2 support for specific areas of the student system while providing Level 1 support for a wide variety of areas within the student system. Provide support to all levels of school site and district office personnel to assure data accuracy via telephone, email, lab setting and onsite technical instruction. Analyze, evaluate, document and distribute all updates and changes from the Department of Education. Work with Data Processing and other district office departments to implement these changes. Conduct the review of data accuracy prior to the transmissions of student data each year to DOE. Evaluate and organize the data corrections needed in the student information system during the update periods after each transmission. Monitor all student and staff information from multiple sources regularly to help verify that the information maintained in the student and staff data files is correct and meets the current DOE specifications. Responsible for one or more of the following specialty areas: FTE/Survey data, Grad Rate/Dropout Reporting, School Environment Safety Incident Reporting (SESIR) data, Attendance Compliance Reporting and FLEID processing. Serve as a resource person for functions such as MS Excel, Word and other pertinent systems.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Considerable knowledge of the school system and the school and district data processing applications and procedures. Experience in our student information system at the school level is beneficial along with the ability to communicate with a wide range of skilled and non-skilled school based and district office personnel. Effective organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills are required.
Bilingual/biliterate preferred.
Education, Experience and/or Certification/License Requirements
High school diploma and five years experience in using district data processing equipment, software, and procedures. Or the equivalent in appropriate college or technical school data processing courses.
Work Context:
Requires sitting and some standing, walking and moving about to coordinate work. Requires face-to-face discussions and contact with students, individuals and/or teams. Requires the use of alternative communication systems, such as electronic mail, telephones and computers. Requires coordination of work tasks to establish priorities, set goals and meet deadlines. Requires work with both internal and external contacts, and with the public.
Physical Environment:
Requires working indoors in environmentally controlled conditions. Requires sitting for the majority of the day, and the ability to lift, carry, move and/or position objects infrequently weighing up to 20 pounds.
