Insight Global is looking for a Secret Information Systems Security Engineer (ISSE) for one of our federal clients in Albuquerque, NM. The Information Systems Security Engineer (ISSE) serves as a technical cybersecurity expert throughout the entire system development lifecycle, ensuring that mission‑essential systems comply with Department of Defense (DoD) and federal security standards. This position combines hands‑on engineering, secure architecture design, and compliance‑driven analysis to safeguard sensitive environments and support critical national security missions. The ISSE works closely with multidisciplinary teams to integrate security into system design from the earliest stages and to maintain a strong defensive posture throughout system operation. Their responsibility include:

• Develop and refine security architectures that align with DoD, Intelligence Community, and NIST cybersecurity frameworks, ensuring systems are designed with a robust security foundation.

• Lead all phases of the Risk Management Framework (RMF), including selecting appropriate security controls, guiding their implementation, supporting assessments, and managing ongoing monitoring and authorization activities.

• Conduct vulnerability identification and compliance assessments using ACAS (Assured Compliance Assessment Solution), while streamlining reporting processes and ensuring timely remediation of findings.

• Configure, integrate, and optimize FortiSIEM to support comprehensive log aggregation, correlation, alerting, and security event analysis in support of incident detection and response.

• Apply DISA Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs), Security Requirements Guides (SRGs), and other hardened baseline configurations to secure operating systems, applications, network appliances, and other system components.

• Prepare and maintain detailed cybersecurity documentation, including System Security Plans (SSPs), Plans of Action and Milestones (POA&Ms), Concept of Operations (CONOPS), and other required accreditation materials.

• Collaborate with system engineers, software developers, ISSOs, program managers, and other stakeholders to ensure that cybersecurity principles are incorporated into system design and operational processes.

• Provide technical expertise during security incidents by assisting with investigative activities, containment strategies, and engineering‑focused remediation efforts.

Compensation:

$52.40/hr to $60.10/hr.

Exact compensation may vary based on several factors, including skills, experience, and education.

Skills and Requirements

• Active DoD Secret Clearance or higher.

• Bachelor’s degree in cybersecurity, information technology, engineering, or a related discipline (preferred).

• A minimum of five years of cybersecurity engineering experience supporting DoD or other federal programs.

• Practical experience using ACAS for vulnerability scanning, compliance reporting, and security posture tracking.

• Hands‑on experience with FortiSIEM or a comparable SIEM platform for log management and security event monitoring.

• Strong working knowledge of NIST SP 800‑53 controls, the RMF process, and DoD‑mandated cybersecurity practices.

• Demonstrated proficiency in secure system design, network security principles, and operating system hardening.

• Certifications of IAT/IAM Level III such as CASP+CE, CCNP Security, CISA, CISSP, GCED, GCIH, CCSP, CISM, GSLC, CCISO.
