Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Naval Shipboard Radio Communications System Technician to join our team in support of our company's mission to deliver a broad range of solutions and services enabling the United States Navy to successfully carry out its missions. As a Naval Shipboard Radio Communications System Technician, you will be responsible for the maintenance and testing of shipboard radio communication systems, ensuring seamless communication and information exchange between naval vessels and other stakeholders. Your expertise will play a critical role in supporting naval operations and the safety of those who serve.
The hourly rate for this position is set by the Dept of Labor and is not negotiable. Current rate is $29.72/hr.
This position is located in Chesapeake, VA. There is no relocation assistance available for this position. Applicants must be currently residing in or state willingness to relocate self to Chesapeake, VA or surrounding areas.
Required Education, Experience, & Skills
High school diploma and a minimum of 5 years of experience in the maintenance and testing of naval shipboard radio communication systems
Completion of Electronics Technician (ET) class A school
Familiarity with naval standards and regulations, including those related to communication systems and electromagnetic compatibility
Strong technical skills and knowledge of radio communication systems.
Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to adapt to new technologies and systems.
Commitment to safety and quality in all aspects of work.
Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills
Associate or Bachelor's degree in a related field (e.g., electronics, communications, or engineering)
Experience with naval communication systems, including HF, VHF, UHF, UHF SATCOM, EHF, and SHF systems and their associated antenna systems.
Familiarity with AN/USC-61 DMR, AN/USQ-155 TVS, AN/URT-23(V), AN/URC-131 HFRG, AN/SRC-66 (V), AN/WSC-3, SA-2112 (V), DAMA, and AN/WSC-9 systems.
Experience with test equipment and diagnostic tools, including spectrum analyzers, signal generators, and multimeters.
Strong understanding of electronic principles, including circuit analysis and troubleshooting.
Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with multiple priorities and deadlines.
Pay Information
This position is covered by a wage law called the McNamara-O'Hara Service Contract Act (SCA). The wage range for this position is determined by the Wage and Hour Division of the Department of Labor on a contract-by-contract basis.
