What you'll do...
Join **Walmart Global Tech** as a **Software Engineer III (Backend)** and help build and enhance scalable backend systems that power seamless digital experiences for millions of customers worldwide. In this role, you will contribute to the design, optimization, and maintenance of backend services across Walmart’s digital ecosystem—including checkout, fulfillment, and customer engagement platforms. **About the Team** The **International Technology** team supports Walmart’s stores and eCommerce operations across markets outside the U.S. Within this organization, the **Advertising team** builds platforms that drive customer acquisition, re-engagement, and contextual advertising across Walmart’s digital properties. **What You’ll Do**
+ Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend services and APIs for customer-facing and internal platforms.
+ Collaborate with product managers, frontend engineers, data engineers, and UX teams to deliver end-to-end solutions.
+ Participate in system design discussions with a focus on scalability, reliability, and performance.
+ Implement backend components using established architectural patterns and industry best practices.
+ Optimize application performance and enhance overall system efficiency.
+ Write clean, efficient, and maintainable code aligned with Walmart engineering standards.
+ Participate in code reviews and provide constructive feedback.
+ Troubleshoot, debug, and resolve production issues in distributed systems.
+ Contribute to improving system reliability, security, and observability.
+ Support CI/CD pipelines through testing, automation, and quality checks.
+ Learn and apply best practices in microservices, security, and distributed systems.
What You’ll Bring
+ 3–6 years of experience in backend software engineering or platform development.
+ Strong hands-on experience with **Java** and backend application development.
+ Experience with **Spring Boot** , **REST APIs** , and messaging systems such as **Kafka** .
+ Familiarity with distributed systems, microservices architecture, and scalable application design.
+ Working knowledge of databases such as **Cassandra** or other NoSQL/relational databases.
+ Experience with containerization technologies ( **Docker/Kubernetes preferred** ).
+ Exposure to CI/CD pipelines, DevOps practices, and monitoring/logging tools.
+ Solid understanding of data structures, algorithms, multithreading, and design patterns.
+ Experience working in **Agile/Scrum** development environments.
+ Strong problem-solving skills and a collaborative mindset.

The annual salary range for this position is $117,000.00 - $234,000.00 Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses. Additional compensation for certain positions may also include :
