NBCUniversal is seeking a Manager, Software Engineering to lead a high-impact team driving AI innovation across the enterprise. This team focuses on building scalable AI infrastructure, enabling access to cutting-edge foundation models, and advancing AI education for engineers company-wide. In this role, you will manage Agile Scrum ceremonies, align team deliverables with strategic objectives, and collaborate with senior leadership to prioritize services in the rapidly evolving world of AI.
As part of the Prism organization within NBCUniversal’s Operations and Technology group, the AI CORE team is dedicated to elevating the developer experience by delivering the infrastructure and knowledge required to create next-generation AI-powered applications and services.
This is a technical leadership role. The ideal candidate must have prior hands-on software engineering experience, including designing and developing RESTful APIs, web applications, and implementing serverless architectures on major public cloud providers (such as AWS, Azure, or GCP). You will shape strategies for edge-first architectures, AI-driven development workflows, and data-centric insights. Your team will deliver high-quality foundation models to engineering groups and support diverse use cases across the organization, ensuring solutions scale to meet internal and external customer needs.
You will also partner with strategic vendors to influence feature development, build future-ready ecosystems that accelerate software delivery, enhance productivity, and enable innovative ways of working. Additionally, you will collaborate with the NBCUniversal O&T API Gateway team to standardize operations and deliver consistent, best-in-class services across NBCUniversal.
Success in this role requires balancing strategic leadership with hands-on technical engagement, driving operational excellence, fostering a culture of adaptability, and influencing SVP-level decisions to shape NBCUniversal’s AI future.
+ 6+ years of professional software development experience
+ 2+ years of professional experience leading technical engineering teams and projects
+ Understanding of the product, engineering, and test roles & responsibilities that make up a software delivery team
+ Experience mentoring junior engineers (i.e. code reviews) and strong familiarity navigating code bases
+ Proven experience facilitating Agile Scrum ceremonies and providing clear, actionable updates to leadership
+ Experience with cloud-native development (Azure, AWS, GCP), scrum processes, security-by-design, and modern DevOps practices
+ Sharp eye for quality team contribution; ability to assess team member work product
+ Experience with leading projects in highly collaborative, multi-disciplinary development teams
+ Excellent verbal and written communication and collaboration skills to effectively connect with both business and technical teams
+ Familiarity with integrating foundation models and conversational AI technologies into applications
+ Passionate about problem-solving and working with engineering and non-engineering partners
+ Ability to translate technical concepts into languages that the audience (business stakeholders and engineering partners) with various levels of technical background can understand to influence decision making
+ Results oriented, high energy, self-motivated
+ Demonstrated experience recruiting and managing technical teams, including performance management
Desired Characteristics:
+ Software engineering experience as a Technical Product Manager, Engineer, or Manager
+ B.S. degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field preferred or equivalent experience
+ Able to communicate effectively in a diverse team of varying skillsets and proficiencies. Able to lead and instruct or take directions when appropriate. Effective in-person, written and verbal communication skills
+ Experience working in large, multifaceted, and matrixed organizations
+ Collaborative team player accustomed to working within and across groups
+ Organized and detail-oriented with ability to manage time effectively
+ Ability to influence internal and external team members without direct reporting authority
+ Keep up to date with emerging platforms & the latest technology trends

+ Experience with one or more of the following development tools: Jira, Confluence, GitHub, GitHub Actions
+ Strong understanding of backend technologies (e.g., Python) and RESTful services, with practical experience integrating APIs into front-end projects.
+ Experience in designing and deploying serverless architectures on cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP
+ Experience in software license management, tracking & reporting and owning vendor negotiations
