Position Summary:
The Video Surveillance Optimization Analyst is responsible for optimizing the performance, accuracy, and efficiency of live video monitoring systems across the monitoring center. This role focuses on reducing false alarms, improving alarm quality, and enhancing monitoring center productivity through camera configuration, analytics tuning, data analysis, and process improvement. The analyst serves as a technical and operational partner to monitoring, operations, and technical teams, ensuring video surveillance systems perform reliably while supporting profitability, staffing efficiency, and service quality.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:
_To perform this job successfully, the Video Surveillance Optimization Analyst may be expected to perform some or all of the duties listed._
+ Camera Configuration & Optimization: Configure, fine-tune, and maintain video surveillance camera settings to ensure clear visibility, accurate motion detection, and alignment with site-specific requirements and monitoring standards.
+ Motion Masking & Alarm Suppression: Design, implement, and maintain masking zones to eliminate non-actionable motion and reduce nuisance alarms.
+ AI Analytics & Detection Management: Utilize and manage AI-based video analytics and detection tools to minimize false positives caused by environmental factors such as weather, lighting changes, shadows, insects, and repetitive motion.
+ Alarm Trend Analysis & Reporting: Analyze alarm data and system performance to identify trends, patterns, and root causes of excessive alarm activity. Produce weekly and monthly alarm-reduction and performance reports.
+ Process Optimization & Efficiency: Identify inefficiencies in video monitoring workflows and implement optimization strategies to reduce wasted labor, manual intervention, and no-value alarm activity.
+ Targeted Alarm Reduction Initiatives: Lead and execute focused optimization efforts for high-volume or problem sites to achieve sustained reductions in alarm volume.
+ SOP Development & Maintenance: Develop, document, and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) related to camera optimization, alarm handling, and video monitoring best practices.
+ Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with monitoring operations, technical teams, and leadership to troubleshoot camera and analytics issues and ensure timely resolution.
+ Performance & Profitability Support: Support monitoring center leadership by providing insights into alarm quality, staffing optimization, productivity, and profitability.
+ Technology Oversight & Improvement: Stay informed of emerging video surveillance and analytics technologies and recommend enhancements that improve system performance and operational effectiveness.
+ Perform other duties and related work as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
+ This position does not have direct supervisory responsibility.
+ May provide guidance, recommendations, and subject-matter expertise to monitoring and technical teams.

Knowledge:
+ Strong knowledge of video surveillance systems, camera configuration, motion detection behavior, and masking techniques.
+ Knowledge of AI-based video analytics and alarm-filtering technologies.
+ Knowledge of monitoring center operations and alarm-handling workflows.
+ Knowledge of environmental factors impacting video performance and detection accuracy.
+ Working knowledge of computer systems and Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook).
+ Ability to acquire and maintain knowledge of internal monitoring platforms, reporting tools, and optimization systems
Skills:
+ Strong analytical and data interpretation skills.

+ Ability to present findings and recommendations to operations and leadership teams.
+ Ability to apply mathematical concepts such as rates, ratios, and percentages.
+ Ability to exercise sound judgment and make data-driven recommendations.
+ Ability to adapt to changing environments, shifting priorities, and operational demands.
+ Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.

Minimum Qualifications:
+ High school diploma or equivalent required.
+ 3–5 years of experience in video surveillance technology, monitoring center operations, or security system optimization.
+ Experience working with multiple camera manufacturers and surveillance platforms.
+ Demonstrated success in reducing false alarms and improving system performance.
+ Strong technical aptitude, attention to detail, and problem-solving skills.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
+ Ability to obtain and maintain any required monitoring or security-related licenses, certifications, or registrations, as applicable.
