THIS POSITION IS ON THE OXFORD COLLEGE OF EMORY UNIVERSITY CAMPUS, 36 MILES EAST OF ATLANTA.
The Coordinator duties are organizing, coordinating, and planning operational facets of a program and its related activities which include, but are not limited to the following: establishing long-term operational objectives, researching factors that may impact the success of the program, and working with individuals or groups to research and document program requirements in order to provide appropriate input into the development of strategic plans.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
+ Develops work plans to accomplish program goals and objectives and monitors progress toward their achievement.
+ Conducts research and gathers information to develop various publications.
+ Develops promotional materials which may include content for reports, briefings, newsletters, grants or other written information related to the program.
+ Assists in developing and coordinating program-related conferences, conventions, or meetings.
+ Monitors expenditures and may participate in the budget planning process and prepare financial reports.
+ May assist in identifying funding resources and developing fund-raising strategies and initiatives.
+ Prepares operational and statistical reports.
+ Conducts training, represents the program at meetings and conferences, and networks with affiliated groups. May supervise assigned project staff, interns and/or volunteers.
+ Performs related responsibilities as required.
ADDITIONAL JOB DETAILS:
At Oxford College of Emory University, the Library Coordinator reports to the Senior Coordinator of Daily Operations and manages physical and digital course reserves, responds to requests from faculty, and handles administrative tasks critical to the maintenance of the reserves collection. The role also involves ordering and cataloging new acquisitions including physical and digital resources and working within budget processes set by the Collections Librarian. The Coordinator creates and manages bibliographic records for various materials, such as books, serials, films, and rare books, using specialized knowledge of cataloging standards, provides ILS (Alma) expertise to the library, provides reference services and supervises student staff.
Primary Responsibilities
+ Manage physical and digital reserves: Process and prepare physical materials for the reserve collection and acquire digital resources and web links for the reserves module.
+ Process faculty requests: Mediates requests from instructors for placing materials on reserve, including assessing copyright and seeking e-resources or open access materials when necessary.
+ Library systems: Responsible for performing complex tasks within the ILS including but not limited to cataloging for physical books, eBooks, videos, and other digital materials. Also responsible for implementing new workflows as needed (EDI or API), generating system reports, creating metadata, invoicing, and vendor integrations. Handles more complex bibliographic management tasks or collection-specific duties, including selection and de-selection.
+ Implement technology: Support the implementation of new technology, develop training materials, and assist in the creation of documentation for new systems as needed.
+ Other duties: Supervises student employees and is a member of several internal library teams, serves on Oxford College and Emory University Libraries committees. Has the opportunity to participate in professional organizations.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
+ Bachelor's degree in a field related to the program.
+ Two years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
+ Education and Experience: A bachelor's degree plus five years of experience in an academic library setting. Must have experience cataloging using Alma integrated library system. Demonstrated experience managing course reserves and cataloging is required. Master’s degree preferred.
+ Skills: Strong organizational and communication skills, library systems proficiency, ability to handle multiple tasks are all essential.
+ Knowledge of and experience in meeting the research needs of students and faculty in a variety of subject areas; self-motivation; flexibility; strong problem-solving, written, and oral communication skills; initiative and ability to conceive and carry out projects on a deadline, including managing multiple responsibilities and effectively responding to the needs of a campus community that makes heavy demands on library services; ability to work in a collaborative team environment.
NOTE: Position tasks are generally required to be performed in-person at an Emory University location. Remote work from home day options may be granted at department discretion. Emory reserves the right to change remote work status with notice to employee.
