    Job Summary

    Come Join Us! ACCO Brands is seeking a motivated Engineer. Ideal candidate will excel in cross-functional teamwork and will be responsible for providing technical support and guidance regarding engineering and continuous improvement activities. The Manufacturing Engineer will support site operational goals for production, capability, capacity, quality, safety and continuous improvement across manufacturing, warehousing, and distribution. The Engineer serves as the expert of equipment capability, design, and efficiency, and works heavily with the Sales, Marketing, Sourcing, Design, and Product Development teams on new and existing opportunities. The continuous improvement efforts often involve incorporating new equipment, materials, processes, and technology into existing operations.

    Responsibilities

    + Works daily with site Operations team and personnel to develop and document standard work methods in support of the efficient utilization of space, equipment, material, and product flow.

    + Evaluates all Operations processes – manufacturing, warehousing, distribution - with the goal of continuously improving process capability, equipment availability / Up-Time, capacity, and overall plant productivity.

    + Works closely with production and maintenance departments to troubleshoot production issues, identify areas for efficiency improvement, improve production output, and achieve cost savings.

    + Works closely with the quality assurance department to plan for, develop, and implement part and process validation studies or testing across the entire product line.

    + Works with and provides technical data to Operations, Finance, and HR for the creation and modification of bills of materials and labor routings as necessary to ensure the accurate development of standard cost / current cost data.

    + Work as Project Manager or provide technical support for any new machinery / processes, machine upgrades, and machine modifications / improvements for the site - addressing all mechanical, electrical, and infrastructure requirements.

    + Works with and provides technical data to Operations, Finance, and HR for the creation of product or process cost estimates and production costing for new products or processes.

    + Analyze new products or product changes and recommends design for manufacturing concepts and solutions to meet production, quality, and productivity requirements.

    + Implements Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma processes to support efforts for inventory reduction, process reliability, and manufacturing cycle time improvement.

    + Proactively participates with suppliers on Research and Development of required product specifications and evaluates in-coming material according to agreed upon standards.

    + Applies project management skills in the justification, capital request, procurement, and installation of capital equipment, machinery modifications, and production process improvements.

    + Approximates production time, staffing requirements, and related costs to provide accurate/timely estimates for management decisions.

    + Applies statistical methods to evaluate manufacturing capabilities and future potential.

    + Works with the Operations and Safety Teams to identify and correct safety and ergonomic concerns to insure a productive and safe work environment.

    Qualifications

    + Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or other technical degree.

    + 5+ years of hands-on manufacturing experience.

    + Strong interpersonal, communication, project leadership, and change management skills required.

    + Excellent project management experience with the ability to manage multiple projects at the same time.

    + Strategic thinker with proven problem-solving skills and analytical ability.

    + Proficiency using MS office applications (including MS Project).

    + Previous AUTOCAD experience preferred.

    + Lean/Six Sigma Certifications preferred.

    + Experience with Co-Bots and Robotics – set up and programming – is a plus.
