The Avionics Test Engineering organization is a global engineering organization responsible for the design, development, and maintenance of the manufacturing test solutions in support of the $5B Avionics strategic business unit as well as external customers including armed services and airlines both domestic and international.
This position is for an emerging **Systems Engineer** **II** on the Avionics Test Engineering Systems team within Operations. The team’s charter is to lead the Avionics Test Engineering organization in Systems engineering practices by establishing new processes, requirements development, design, build and verification and validation of our manufacturing acceptance test solutions. This position is onsite, in Cedar Rapids, IA.
The Systems Engineer applies engineering principles to design, build, and maintain industry leading test solutions. Ensures understanding of both technical and programmatic requirements. Supports technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, cost and risk, and supportability and effectiveness analyses for test systems. Decomposes customer specifications and system level requirements into sub-system requirements and generates verification criteria and plans for the requirements. Supports configuration process, performs requirements allocation and interface definition studies to translate customer requirements into hardware and software specifications.
WHAT YOU WILL DO:
+ LeadVerification Activities for a project.
+ Lead technical presentations and discussions with the various stakeholders.
+ Capture requirements andestablishsolid designs for new projects.
+ Drive resolution for technical issues through problem solving and coordination across teams.
+ Generate test cases and conducting verification and validation testing.
+ Contribute to the process and standards development with both internal and external stakeholders.
WHAT YOU WILL LEARN:
+ Develop Systems Engineering acumen.
+ Communication across discipline groups (design, manufacturing, program management, software, hardware, and architecture).
+ Exposure to a variety ofAvionics products and the technology that sets our business apart from competitors.
+ Different methods of acceptance testing and how to test for defects in a manufacturing setting.
QUALIFICATIONS YOU MUST HAVE:
+ Typically requires a University Degree and minimum 2 years of prior relevant experience _or_ an Advanced Degree in a related field _or_ in absence of a degree, 6 years of relevant experience.
+ Experiencewith engineering development tools like DOORS, Jama, Matlab, Atlassian Collaboration Tools, and Microsoft Office 365 suite.
+ Experience in requirements verification and validation, and developing verification criteria and procedures for the requirements
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
+ Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams to achieve operational goals.
+ Experience in requirements development including but not limited to stakeholder analysis, decomposition of systems level requirements into hardware and software sub-systems
+ Experience with Agile Methodologies
+ Experience with modern scripting languages (e.g.C++,Labview, Python, etc.)
+ Experience with avionics industry standards, such as ARINC-429, ARINC-661 (display interface),ARINC-664 (AFDX), ARINC-818, and IEEE 802.3 (ethernet)
+ Problem-solving skills with ability to proactivelyidentifyalternate solutions to overcome difficult technical challenges.
+ Detail-oriented and capable of managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

The salary range for this role is 68,900 USD - 131,100 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels.
