About the Team

The team for this role is part of the Product and Platform organization within Nutanix, which has evolved significantly since its inception. This dynamic group is focused on developing cutting-edge self-service solutions that enhance user experiences and operational efficiencies. The team, which spans across Bangalore, India, and San Jose, California, embraces a diverse culture that values collaboration, innovation, and transparency. Their mission is to architect and deliver cloud-scale applications that are resilient, scalable, and tailored to customer needs.

You will report to the Director of Engineering, who emphasizes a collaborative and empowering leadership style that encourages team members to take initiative and contribute ideas. The work setup is on-site, allowing team members to choose their preferred work location. While many opt for remote work, the hire is expected to come into the office a few days a week to foster team interaction and collaboration.

There are no required travel commitments for this role, allowing the candidate to focus entirely on their work within the team and contribute effectively to the company's projects and initiatives.

Your Role

+ Develop and maintain scalable and resilient microservices to enhance customer experience.

+ Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product managers and designers, to create intuitive and user-friendly functionality.

+ Implement best practices in unit testing, benchmarking, and performance optimization of software.

+ Diagnose and resolve issues in a microservices and distributed environment.

+ Gain a deep understanding of customer use cases and translate them into innovative solutions.

+ Contribute to and engage in the continuous improvement of backend services and overall system performance.

+ Maintain service uptime and meet established service level objectives through proactive monitoring.

+ Participate in and contribute to a culture of knowledge sharing and documentation within a hybrid work environment.

What You Will Bring

+ BS/MS in Computer Science or Engineering

+ 1 - 2 years of experience in software development, particularly in high growth environments

+ Proficient in front-end development using JavaScript, HTML5, and CSS3, with experience in React.js or equivalent frameworks

+ Knowledge of one or more server-side programming languages (Go, C/C++, Java, Python)

+ Experience with databases (SQL & NoSQL) and messaging technologies (NATS, Kafka, Pulsar)

+ Strong understanding of microservices architecture, concurrency patterns, and multithreading concepts

+ Familiarity with cloud technologies (AWS, Azure, GCP) and Linux environments

+ Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to collaborate in a diverse team environment

Work Arrangement

Hybrid: This role operates in a hybrid capacity, blending the benefits of remote work with the advantages of in-person collaboration. In locations where our workplace policy applies (i.e. San Jose, Durham, Mexico City, Bangalore, Pune, Hoofddorp, Belgrade, Barcelona, Singapore, Sydney and Tokyo), employees are expected to work onsite a minimum of 3 days per week to foster collaboration, team alignment, and access to in-office resources. The pay range for this position at commencement of employment is expected to be between USD $90,400 and USD $180,000 per year.

However, base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a sign-on bonus, restricted stock units, and discretionary awards in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as vacation, sick time, and parental leave), dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.

If hired, employee will be in an “at-will position” and the Company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
