    Job Summary

    This machine operator position requires the operation and/or set-up of manufacturing equipment with moderate direction or supervision. The incumbent will possess and demonstrate the skills necessary to maintain production requirements and quality standards.

     

    Duties and Responsibilities

     

    Operate equipment and perform minor to moderate machine set-ups as required.

     

    Perform first piece inspection, monitor the quality of all parts, and make adjustments to maintain quality standards.

     

    Perform the duties required to record data for SPC, ISO/Quality System documentation.

     

    Move material by operating forklift or using non-motorized devices.

     

    Perform minor machine maintenance such as oil changes and tightening of bolts.

     

    Assist other operators as needed.

     

    Suggest process improvement ideas.

     

    Obey all Safety Rules.

     

    Wear mandated PPE.

     

    Attend all EHS training.

     

    Report all injuries immediately.

     

    Practice good housekeeping.

     

    Report all chemical spills immediately.

     

    Place waste in proper locations and appropriate containers

     

    Report all safety hazards immediately.

     

    Label portable containers.

     

    All other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

     

    Ability to use all gages and gauging techniques required.

     

    Thorough understanding of SPC.

     

    Knowledge in ISO/Quality System requirements.

     

    Ability to operate equipment and perform minor machine set-ups.

     

    Ability to consistently meet production and quality standards.

     

    Ability to demonstrate the knowledge and understanding of all required operator documentation.

     

    Good communication and teamwork skills.

     

    Ability to identify routine problem causation and correct routine problems.

     

    Use math skills for blue print reading, gauging and SPC.

     

    Possess the ability to assist lesser-skilled employees.

     

    Demonstrate the understanding of the manufacturing process and machine requirements to perform basic and repetitive work assignments.

     

    Provide written communication as needed.

     

    Must comply with all company policies and procedures, including safety guidelines and practices.

     

    Physical Demands

     

    Standing/walking required to perform machine setup/operation, material handling, and data recording.

     

    Sitting may be required to perform some machine operation and data recording.

     

    Gripping/handling/fine finger movements are required for machine setup/operation, mechanical adjustments, gauging of parts, housekeeping, and control/switch operation.

     

    Reaching, climbing, stooping, kneeling, and crouching are physical requirements associated with setting up and operating equipment.

     

    Talking and hearing may be necessary to communicate effectively with co-workers and supervisors, as well as to hear alarms, pages, and machine noises.

     

    Preferred Skills & Abilities

     

    Minimum one-year experience in direct or related field.

     

    Previous problem solving and trouble shooting skills/experience.

     

    Formal mechanical or technical training.

     

    Forklift

     

    Experience operating multiple-types of manufacturing equipment.

     

    Tools Used

     

    Micrometers, calipers, gages, comparators, wrenches and other general tools and equipment.
