Job Description
NYC Parks is the steward of over 30,000 acres of land – 14% of New York City. We operate more than 800 athletic fields and nearly 1,000 playgrounds, 1,800 basketball courts, 550 tennis courts, 65 public pools, and 51 recreational facilities. From the iconic Central Park to neighborhood playgrounds, we own and operate some of the most spectacular green spaces in the world.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
- Under supervision, perform installation and repair work involving rough, finish and general carpentry.
- Install, repair and replace flooring, partitions, roofs, window frames and sashes, door frames and doors and other related components of buildings and structures.
- Install, repair and replace boardwalks, fences and screens.
- Construct and repair toolboxes, movable and fixed sashes, doors and wooden office furniture, playground, park and school equipment.
- Build and rebuild truck cabs.
- Utilize and operate both hand and powered woodworking equipment.
- Build and repair various types of ice ladders.
- Work from plans and sketches. Maintain accurate records.
- May supervise assigned personnel.
Duration: 6 months, Spring 2026 to Fall 2026
Work Location: Randall’s Island
Fees: Hired candidates may be subject to a processing fee of $101.00. Hired candidates who are not currently employed by the City will be subject to an $101.25 background check fee.

CARPENTER - 92005
Qualifications
1. Five years of full-time satisfactory experience as a Carpenter acquired within the last 10 years; or
2. Three years of experience as described in “1" above, plus sufficient training of a relevant nature acquired in an approved trade or vocational high school to make up a total of five years of acceptable experience. Six months of acceptable experience will be credited for each year of approved trade or vocational school training.
