Job Description
The Student Intern will assist the State Forests with program delivery, natural resource management and conservation education programs. The intern will be exposed to all aspects of assigned department operations. Internships are 10 weeks long. Lodging and meals are the responsibility of the intern.
Responsibilities:
-Assist District Foresters with all aspects of management and maintenance on the 5 major State Forest in East Texas.
-Assist District Foresters and Statelands Coordinator on State Forest management plan updates
-Attend and assist on any tour or workshop on State Forest.
-Assist various districts on special projects as needed.
-Produce and participate in a close-out presentation for the executive team on the intern experience
-Other duties as assigned.
Working Conditions: A mix of office and field work with occasional travel in state. Monday-Friday 8am-5pm.
Education and Experience:
Required Education: High school diploma and must be currently enrolled at an accredited college/university that have completed their junior year of college up to second-year post-graduates, in a course of study relevant to the mission of the agency: Natural Resource Management, WIldlife, Forestry, or closely related field.
Preferred Education: Preference given to students with a 3.0 or higher GPA.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Required Knowledge: PC-based programs and software
Required Skills: Good oral and written communication skills.
Required Abilities: Multi-task and work cooperatively with others.
Preferred Abilities: Ability to utilize GIS/GPS programs.
Licenses, Certificates or Registrations:
Required: Valid State of Texas Drivers license
