    This role sits within the Revenue Management organization as part of the Revenue Engineering division. The Operations Research Manager is responsible for leading a high performing team to drive significant topline revenue improvements for American Airlines. This leader will serve as a key contributor and thoughtful partner within the Revenue Management leadership team, influencing strategy, shaping analytical direction, and championing initiatives that deliver measurable business impact.

     

    This manager will be responsible for fostering a culture of ownership and high-performance execution across the team. This role will lead efforts to identify new revenue opportunities, design and implement automation, and research emerging analytical and optimization techniques. The manager will lead the team to apply state‑of‑the‑art modeling methods to solve complex revenue challenges and drive measurable business impacts.

     

    What you'll do

     

    Lead a team of Operation Research analysts supporting Revenue Management. Responsible for:

     

    + Enhancing revenue management systems by analyzing forecast and revenue performance data, identifying improvement opportunities, and implementing innovative solutions that increase profitability.

    + Researching, developing, and implementing advanced Operations Research techniques and models to address complex, real-world revenue optimization problems.

    + Overseeing and maintaining production systems that support and enable core Revenue Management capabilities.

    + Leading project-based initiatives requiring strong analytical problem-solving, prototype development, and end-to-end implementation of optimized solutions.

    + Collaborating closely with IT to ensure successful deployment, integration, and ongoing maintenance of production systems and optimization tools.

    + Leading cross-functional initiatives, partnering with Pricing, Yield Management, Network Planning, Sales, Finance, AAdvantage, Marketing, and other key stakeholders.

    + Driving and coordinating complex, multi-department projects, delivering clear analyses, strategic insights, and actionable recommendations to Senior Leadership.

     

    All you'll need for success

    Minimum Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience

    + ​BS/BA degree with significant coursework or experience in a quantitative discipline (economics, mathematics, engineering, finance, etc.), or graduate degree

    Skills, Licenses & Certifications

    + Ability to manage a team and support critical business decisions in a dynamic, fast-paced environment

    + Ability to identify gaps in current tools and systems and create vision for Revenue Management success going forward

    + Ability to solve and to lead others in solving complex analytical problems

    + Willingness to take calculated risks

    + Ability to build collaborative relationships with and consensus amongst multiple stakeholders with varying points of view
