What you’ll do:
Loyola University Medical Center is seeking a detail-oriented and highly organized Accounting Clerk II to support the accurate and timely posting of patient and insurance payments. In this role, you will ensure financial integrity across patient accounts by applying payments, resolving posting errors, and maintaining precise billing documentation. You will also prepare and translate electronic payment files for major payers—including Blue Cross, Medicare, and Medicaid—and scan payment and insurance correspondence into the Epic billing system. Additionally, you will assist with credit balance resolution and ensure that all payments, adjustments, and account corrections are recorded accurately.
Key Responsibilities
+ Accurately apply payments, adjustments, and denials to patient accounts, ensuring invoice reconciliation within required turnaround times
+ Process, post, and reconcile Electronic Remittance Advice (ERA) payments
+ Contact insurance companies to obtain or clarify payment information as needed
+ Identify, investigate, and resolve credit balances and misapplied payments in a timely manner
+ Initiate and generate refund requests for third-party payers and patients within designated timelines
+ Prepare and translate electronic payment files (e.g., Blue Cross, Medicare, Medicaid) for daily posting
+ Scan and upload payment and insurance correspondence into the Epic Hospital Billing system
+ Collaborate with Payment Posting leadership and team members on projects and tasks as assigned

What you’ll need for this job:
Minimum Education:
**Required:** High School Diploma
**Preferred:** High School Diploma plus training acquired through work experience or education
Minimum Experience:
**Required:** 1-2 years of previous job-related experience
**Preferred:** 3-5 years of previous job-related experience
Compensation:
Pay Range: $16.49 - $24.44 per hour
_Actual compensation will fall within the range but may vary based on factors such as experience, qualifications, education, location, licensure, certification requirements, and comparisons to colleagues in similar roles._
