Description We are looking for an experienced Senior Controller to lead the financial operations of our organization in Stockton, California. This role involves overseeing accounting functions, financial reporting, budgeting, and internal controls while managing a team of eight staff members. The ideal candidate will bring a strong background in real estate finance, excellent leadership skills, and a commitment to driving long-term growth.
Responsibilities:
• Manage and supervise all accounting operations, including financial reporting, budgeting, and internal controls.
• Lead treasury management activities such as cash flow reporting, bank account reconciliations, and loan administration.
• Oversee accounts receivable processes, ensuring accurate tenant billing, addressing delinquent accounts, and reviewing utility and maintenance charges.
• Direct accounts payable functions, including weekly check review and approval processes.
• Supervise payroll, human resources activities, and office management to ensure smooth operations.
• Prepare monthly financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow reports.
• Develop annual operating budgets and collaborate with external firms for year-end tax filings and regulatory requirements.
• Conduct financial performance analysis for properties, identifying trends and addressing variances.
• Establish and refine accounting processes and controls to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
• Provide senior management with ad-hoc financial reports and analysis as needed. Requirements • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field is required.
• At least 5 years of experience as a Controller or Assistant Controller, with demonstrated managerial expertise.
• Background in real estate finance, including development and property management, is highly preferred.
• Strong knowledge of financial software such as Yardi or similar platforms.
• Proven ability to manage teams effectively and foster a collaborative work environment.
• Excellent organizational and analytical skills with attention to detail.
• Commitment to long-term career growth within the company.
• Advanced degrees or certifications such as CPA or MBA are preferred but not mandatory if supported by experience.
