JOB SUMMARY:
Responsible to provide guidance to undergraduate students on their academic journey. To serve as an academic adviser to primarily first- and second-year undergraduate students, promoting student persistence, retention and timely progress to degree completion.
SALARY INFORMATION:
In compliance with New York’s Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is $52,000 - $54,000. Adelphi University considers factors such as departmental budgets, scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate’s work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as market and organizational considerations when extending an offer. The above hiring range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. An annual base salary higher than the range may be warranted in circumstances where a candidate has demonstrable equivalent prior higher education experience at another University.

REPORTS TO: Executive Director of Academic Services
RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:
+ Provide one on one advising to students providing guidance on courses selection and degree requirements.
+ Guide students on the advisement platform for academic planning, course selection and tracking their progress toward degree completion.
+ Maintain student record in advisement system.
+ Inform students about university policies, procedures and support services available to them.
+ Participate in meeting with other units/departments.
+ Assist with first year advisement/registration.
+ Attend Admission Events to provide information on registration process.
+ Assist with outreach to students who have receive "alerts"
+ Perform other job-related duties.
REQUIREMENTS (Knowledge, Skills and Abilities):
+ Excellent interpersonal skills.
+ Ability to interact with a diverse student body.
+ Ability to be organized and pay attention to detail.
+ Knowledge of computer software and programming including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
+ Ability to maintain confidentiality.
+ Strong writing and communication skills.
+ Knowledge of University rules, regulations and codes of conduct.
+ Attend events as needed (evenings and weekends).
EDUCATIONAL/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
+ Bachelor’s degree is required.
+ Master’s degree is preferred.
+ Prior academic advising experience in higher education is preferred.
+ Bilingual is highly preferred.
