    HIRING: BAS/BMS EngineerJob Description

     

    As a BAS/BMS Engineer, you will be responsible for engineering, commissioning, and optimizing Building Automation Systems (BAS) and Building Management Systems (BMS) across a variety of commercial facilities. You will design and implement control strategies, integrate HVAC and mechanical systems, and ensure system performance meets project requirements. This role involves hands-on field engineering, system programming, troubleshooting, and customer-facing support. Candidates with 1+ years of experience in BAS, controls, or HVAC automation are encouraged to apply.

    ResponsibilitiesEngineering & Commissioning

    + Develop, implement, and modify BAS/BMS control sequences and strategies.

    + Start up, commission, and re‑commission BAS/BMS systems including HVAC, mechanical equipment, and integrated subsystems.

    + Perform point-to-point checkout, functional testing, and system-level verification.

    + Create, load, and validate control programs, graphics, alarms, trends, and reports.

    + Ensure system performance meets specified design intent.

    Technical Troubleshooting

    + Diagnose and resolve mid-level BAS/BMS, HVAC, and network-related issues.

    + Provide field engineering support to subcontractors, technicians, and other trades.

    + Calibrate and verify sensors, actuators, and field devices using laptops and electronic test equipment.

    Project Execution

    + Deliver small-scale turnkey BAS/BMS projects (typically <80 budgeted hours).

    + Prepare accurate engineering documentation including As-Builts, submittals, and commissioning reports.

    + Perform daily system backups and maintain current job files.

    + Assist with project handoff to the Service team.

    Customer & Site Support

    + Provide site-specific operator training for building engineers and facility staff.

    + Work directly with customers, offering updates upon arrival and departure from work sites.

    + Maintain detailed daily logs of field activities and system changes.

    General Expectations

    + Adhere to company and site safety standards at all times.

    + Demonstrate strong computer, networking, and controls system skills.

    + Understand mechanical system operation, HVAC fundamentals, and control sequences.

    + Maintain personal laptop and mobile device functionality for field use.

    Essential Skills

    + Experience with HVAC systems and building automation controls.

    + Proficiency with BAS/BMS troubleshooting and commissioning.

    + Understanding of TCP/IP networking, field-level communication buses, and DDC architecture.

    + Ability to interpret control drawings, electrical schematics, and sequence documentation.

    + Familiarity with major BAS platforms such as Siemens, Trane, Honeywell, Automated Logic, or similar.

    Additional Skills & Qualifications

    + Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Building Automation, or related field (preferred but not required).

    + Field experience with BAS/BMS platforms like Automated Logic (WebCtrl, SiteBuilder), Phoenix Controls, or third‑party systems.

    + Ability to manage multiple tasks across engineering, commissioning, and customer support.

    + Strong analytical and diagnostic skills in controls and HVAC automation.

     

    Job Type & Location

     

    This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Great Neck, NY.

    Pay and Benefits

    The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $50.00/hr.
