Heavy Equipment Operator
Job Description
The Heavy Equipment Operator plays a key role in site preparation and earthmoving activities. This position involves operating various types of heavy machinery to cut, move, load, and grade material according to project specifications. Operators support the overall construction process by shaping terrain, managing fill areas, and preparing sites for subsequent phases of work. The role requires working in active construction zones and maintaining consistent awareness to ensure safe and efficient operations.
Responsibilities
+ Operate heavy equipment such as scrapers, dozers, haul trucks, loaders, graders, or tractors depending on project needs.
+ Perform daily pre‑operation and end‑of‑shift inspections, reporting mechanical or safety concerns promptly.
+ Execute rough and intermediate grading tasks to prepare terrain for fine grading or additional construction activities.
+ Work extended hours when required, including long shifts and a Monday–Saturday schedule.
+ Follow all safety protocols, maintain situational awareness, and communicate effectively with ground personnel and other operators.
Essential Skills
+ 3+ years of experience operating heavy equipment on commercial or civil construction job sites.
+ Proficiency with earthmoving machinery and an understanding of mass grading and site development practices.
+ Strong knowledge of civil construction processes, soil movement, and equipment capabilities.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Valid driver’s license and ability to meet motor vehicle record requirements.
+ Willingness to travel and adjust to changing schedules or shift demands.
+ Ability to work 10–12+ hour days, Monday through Saturday.
+ Experience with specialized equipment or advanced earthmoving techniques is a plus.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Dallas, TX.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $26.00 - $32.00/hr.
