Position Summary and Purpose: Responsibility for leading and performing design engineering of product lines through a deep understanding of customer requirements, research and testing of manufacturing, assembly methods and materials. We are seeking a results-oriented individual to join our growing team.
Duties & Responsibilities:
+ Design, analyze, and troubleshoot hydraulic systems, including creation of hydraulic circuits and selection, sizing, and specification of pumps, valves, actuators, and related components to meet machine performance and reliability requirements
+ Investigate, research, direct and/or perform diagnosis and develop solutions to problems associated with the products identified by Manufacturing, Purchasing, Assembly, Service or Sales
+ Specify system components or direct modification of products to ensure conformance with engineering design and performance specifications
+ Research and analyze customer design proposals, specifications, manuals and other data to evaluate the feasibility, cost and maintenance requirements of designs or applications
+ Recommend design modifications to eliminate machine or system malfunctions
+ Design and test models of alternative designs and processing methods to assess feasibility, operating condition effects, possible new applications and necessity of modification
+ Collaborate with shop assembly ensuring product is built to design specifications
+ Support design aspects of CI machine control upgrades. Determine designs and details required for mounting of equipment, including assembly instruction
+ Adopt and promote lean practices in all activities, considering the elimination of wasteful resources for any goal other than the creation of value for the end customer
+ Planning ability to think ahead and plan over a two year time span
+ Strong customer orientation
+ Three to five years similar experience; machine design proficiency with Solid Edge 2-D and 3-D CAD preferred
Education and Experience:
REQUIRED:
+ Preferred experience includes collaborating with electrical, controls, and software engineering teams, with an ability to understand electrical schematics at a system level
+ Exposure to designing mechanisms for equipment with space constraints and familiarity with designing parts for traditional machining processes (milling, laser cutting, turning, etc.), including work with a variety of materials such as carbon steel, stainless steel, aluminum, cast iron, and engineering plastics; experience with additive manufacturing (3D printing) is considered a bonus
+ Preferred attributes include a high attention to detail, experience working in deadline-driven environments, and a demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively across multiple functions of the organization, including sales, manufacturing, accounting, supply chain, and quality."
+ At least 10 years experience in machine design, specifically design and layout of mechanical systems
+ Strong mechanical background, particularly in product design
+ Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field; Mechanical degree preferred
+ Experience with Solid Edge 3D/2D is preferred
+ Strong customer orientation
+ Adopts and promotes lean practices in all activities/models/details as needed to support team and provide instruction and data for Manufacturing
+ Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field
+ Fully capable of performing all levels of tasks needed to complete a project or sales order, including all aspects of 3D CAD, detailing designs to component level
+ Must be successful in leading and performing design engineering for assigned CI product lines
Physical Demands and Work Environment: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand. This position is active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, reaching with hands and arms and climbing ladders daily. The employee is frequently required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls and to climb or balance.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to a variety of extreme conditions. The noise level in the work environment can be loud at times.
