    *University of Maryland, Baltimore (UMB)’s Veterinary Resources program has an exciting opportunity for a_Veterinary Facility Manager_.* We are looking for a highly motivated individual to join our team of excellent animal caretakers. The Veterinary Facility Manager manages and provides planning and direction in the operations of an animal care facility. Responsibilities include developing, implementing, and maintaining its policies, procedures, and programs in order to assure cohesiveness and effectiveness. The selected candidate is responsible for supervision of laboratory animal technicians and support staff; training of employees and students in lab and laboratory animal techniques; and adherence to quality standards. This position has the authority to formulate, affect, interpret, or implement management policies or operating practices under the approval of the Animal Care Operations and Facilities Manager. /This is a full-time exempt position that will work Monday through Friday. All employees are expected to work primarily physically within the State of Maryland.* *_Primary Duties_* * Manages functional personnel in alignment with department and campus-wide goals/objectives in order to promote maximum staff member benefit and effectiveness as well as overall functional productivity. * Maintains functional efficiency and productivity by developing, implementing, and coordinating policies and procedures. * Fosters and supports a conducive consultant/client environment, providing business unit and campus representatives with assessment, training, and advisement in functional area. * Monitors, reviews, and evaluates ongoing functional programs and controls, assessing needs and facilitating improvements. * Performs such administrative duties as staff supervision, performance evaluation, budgetary tracking, report formulation, and quality assurance. * Creates a cohesive work team that works collaboratively to achieve unit’s goals. Oversees the recruitment, performance, and training of team members and continually reviews strengths and weaknesses of staff to maintain a well-trained, highly involved, and motivated team. * Performs other duties as assigned. *Education:*Bachelor’s degree in Veterinary Medicine or related field. Master’s degree and/or additional certification is preferred. *Experience:*Five (5) years progressively building a background in a related functional area. *Supervisory Experience:*One (1) year of direct management experience. *Preferred Certification:*AALAS Technician Certification preferred (ALAT, LAT, LATG, or CMAR).
