    2026 Summer Intern, Energy Markets

     

    ICF Energy Markets interns contribute to the development of innovative, analytical, high-quality products and services, typically working on multiple projects with all levels of staff.  Our Interns are given opportunities to work on assignments that foster growth and allow them to develop solutions across the power, natural gas, and renewable energy sectors. Through contributing to client engagements, colleague and peer interactions, and specialized training, ICF Interns develop subject matter expertise and project management skills.

     

    This is a full-time, 10-week internship that begins in early June** **2026** **. At this time, pay is expected to be $23/hour for undergraduate interns and $28/hour for graduate interns. Work may be done remotely from any U.S. location** **or hybrid from our Reston, VA office** **for those local to the area** **.   At this time, we are unable to provide relocation** **nor** **housing assistance for this internship.

    As** **an** **Energy Markets** **Intern** **, you will: 

    + Perform advanced quantitative and economic analysis of energymarkets

    + Contribute to the development and enhancement of ICF proprietary models and databases

    + Evaluate the impact of future regulation and support the development of client strategies to manage change

    + Write analysis for majorclient’s deliverables

    + Support the development of research synthesis reports, industry benchmarking, quantitativeanalysisand policy summaries

    + Contributeto business developmentand thought leadership development through market research, dataanalysisand creation of marketing content.

    Basic Qualifications:  

    + A minimum of 30 completed college level credit hours inEnergy, Policy, Economics, Mathematics, Business, Operations Research, Engineering, or related field

    Interns may or should have: 

    + A completed bachelor’s degree plus enrollment verification in a Master’s degree program inEnergy, Policy, Economics, Mathematics, Business, Operations Research, Engineering, or related field

    + Strong interest in one or more of these areas: energy economics, energyfinance,operations research, andenergypolicy analysis

    + The ability to work with and understand technical concepts, while also being able to communicate them to non-technical personnel

    + Basic knowledge of R, Python and/or other coding languages

    + Strong organizational and project management skills

    + Strong analytical skills and capabilities in Microsoft Office (specifically Excel)

    + Working knowledge of US energy markets, policies,and technology.

    **Pay Range** - There are multiple factors that are considered in determining final pay for a position, including, but not limited to, relevant work experience, skills, certifications and competencies that align to the specified role, geographic location, education and certifications as well as contract provisions regarding labor categories that are specific to the position.

    The pay range for this position based on full-time employment is:

    $34,564.00 - $71,098.00
