    Stony Brook University: Health Sciences: Renaissance School of Medicine: Psychiatry and Behavioral Health

    Description

    The clinician will serve as a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant on our Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry clinical and teaching service. The NP/PA will conduct psychiatric evaluations, psychopharmacological and non-pharmacological interventions, and level-of-care recommendations for individuals admitted to our medical and surgical units with psychiatric and substance use comorbidity.

     

    The NP/PA will involve families, obtain collateral history for accurate assessments, and collaborate with other psychiatry and medical staff, nurses, and social workers in clinical management and discharge planning. The NP/PA will also provide education to staff and trainees.

     

    Common conditions addressed may include but are not limited to delirium, behavioral symptoms associated with dementia, impairments in medical decisions making capacity, depression and anxiety, elevated suicide risk, and substance use disorders.

     

    Note: Full-Time Consultation and Liaison Psychiatry

    Qualifications

    REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

    Applicants must have the below credentials or have them in possession by the start date:

    **_Nurse Practitioner:_** Master’s degree (foreign equivalent or higher) in Nursing. ANCC Board Certification. New York State PMHNP (Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner) License.

    **_Physician Assistant:_** Master's Degree from ARC-PA accredited Physician Assistant program. NYS Physician Assistant license. NCCPA certified or must have in possession by start date.

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

    Minimum of one year of full-time work experience as a licensed Psychiatric NP or PA in a hospital setting. Experience working with medically ill patients. Experience in providing psychiatric consultations.
