VetUrgency, a BluePearl Veterinary Partner in Frederick, MD is now hiring an experienced Registered Veterinary Technician to work on Monday overnights.
VetUrgency is a small animal Urgent Care designed to reduce the stress, time, and cost associated with regular ER hospitals while still providing an uncompromising standard of care. Our goal is to create unforgettable, positive experiences for clients, patients,** **_and_** **team members!
**Schedule:** Monday overnight 6pm-7am
**Pay:** $24.50 - $47.00 / hour + shift differentials
_This pay band is dependent on experience and advancement through our competency assessment tool._
We offer **competitive shift differential** pay for eligible hours worked for nights and weekends. Shift differentials are based on a 4-hour minimum. For example:
+ Mon – Fri: 6pm to 8am = **+$4.00/hr** . Shift Differential
+ Sat & Sun: 8am to 6pm = **+$4.00/hr.** Shift Differential
+ Sat & Sun: 6pm to 8am = **+$5.50/hr.** Shift Differential
As an Urgent Care Veterinary Technician, you will:
+ Triage cases as they arrive at the hospital including obtaining vitals such as temperature heart rate, respiratory rate and blood pressure.
+ Obtain and interpret blood pressure and other vital signs and alert Veterinarian to changes and issues.
+ Have a complete understanding of normal ranges of patient vital signs, including but not limited to heart and respiratory rate, temperature, blood pressure and oxygen saturation.
+ Monitor and care for post-operative orthopedic patients.
+ Be proficient at performing phlebotomy and placing intravenous catheters in all peripheral vessels.
+ Perform digital radiography using proper technique including proper positioning of patients.
+ Properly calculate medical math (including constant rate infusions) and administer medications via appropriate routes and duration.
+ Identify patients at risk for arrest and initiate CPR.
+ Sedate/induce, monitor, and recover anesthesia patients and use anesthesia/monitoring equipment.
+ Have a passion for mentoring and training other co-workers.
+ Have patience and empathy to address client concerns.

Our **Continuing Education Plan** includes $500/year reimbursement for CVT and $750/year for VTS. The Continuing Education allowance can roll over up to $1,500 for CVT and VTS associates. Non-Credentialed, full-time Paraprofessionals are eligible for an annual CE stipend of $150. Full-time CVT associates also receive 8 hours of CE paid hours each year. Full-time VTS associates receive 12 hours of CE paid each year. Paid CE hours can be carried over year to year up to a maximum of 24 hours. Newly hired associates will receive a pro-rated amount of any CE benefit for which they are eligible.
