Educational Sign Language Interpreter – $40/hr – San Antonio, TX – In-Person – 18 Weeks

Position Overview:

We are seeking an Educational Sign Language Interpreter to facilitate communication between deaf or hard-of-hearing students and others in an educational setting. This role involves interpreting classroom instruction, activities, and discussions using American Sign Language (ASL) and other communication methods.

Assignment Details:

+ Location: San Antonio, TX

+ Start Date: 01/26/2026

+ End Date: Approximately 18 weeks (end of school year)

+ Schedule: Monday–Friday, 10:15 AM – 3:15 PM

+ Hours: 25–30 per week

+ Pay Rate: $40/hour

+ Modality: In-person only

+ Openings: 1 position

Responsibilities:

+ Interpret classroom, administrative, and social interactions for students with auditory impairments

+ Provide sign-to-voice and voice-to-sign interpreting (ASL, SEE, oral interpreting)

+ Prepare sign vocabulary specific to each class by reviewing materials in advance

+ Assist teachers and students in communication and learning activities

+ Collaborate with instructional teams and maintain positive relationships with students

Requirements:

+ Proficiency in American Sign Language

+ Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in interpreting, deaf studies, or related field preferred

+ Active BEI certification or applicable state certification

+ EIPA or RID certification as required by state or client

+ Must meet all federal, state, and local requirements

+ TB screening and health certificate per state guidelines
