Job Description

As part of Data Services organization in Oracle Cloud, we are passionate about enabling data users and data architects to build large scale data applications at ease, from processing healthcare data for medical research, network anomaly detection to AI machine learning and model training. We build and integrate multiple data frameworks from open-source ecosystem to enable these data applications to run seamlessly on Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI).

Oracle AI Data Platform is an intelligent, unified data platform that integrates generative AI capabilities to deliver a single-pane-of-glass experience for data professionals managing diverse analytics workloads, while combining industry-leading foundation models with securely governed enterprise data to help developers rapidly and easily build their enterprise lakehouse.

We are looking for a senior software engineer who are excited to scale large distributed system, build next-generation SQL query engine, optimize performance with data storage system, and develop seamless enterprise grade security.

What we look for:

+ BS (or higher) in Computer Science or related engineering fields.

+ 3-5+ years of career experiences in Java or Scala. Knowledge in Python is a plus.

+ Solid foundation in data structures and algorithms.

+ Experiences with distributed systems, databases, and big data systems (Apache Spark, Delta Lake, Hadoop). Knowledge in SQL is a plus.

+ Experiences in developing open-source data framework is a plus.

+ Background in batch and streaming data processing and analytics is a plus.

Responsibilities

+ Participate in the design, development, and maintenance of large-scale, distributed, multi-tenant cloud services with strict requirements for availability, performance, and security.

+ Own complex technical problems, including scalability, reliability, performance optimization, and cost efficiency.

+ Code, integrate, and operationalize open and closed source data ecosystem components for Oracle cloud service offerings

+ Collaborate with cross-functional teams including DevOps, Security, and Product Management to define and execute product roadmaps, service updates, and feature enhancements.

+ Becoming an active member of the Apache open source community when working on open source components

+ Implement high availability strategies and design patterns to manage system failures and ensure uninterrupted service during planned or unplanned infrastructure downtimes.

+ Ensure compliance with security protocols and industry best practices when handling large-scale data processing in the cloud.

Range and benefit information provided in this posting are specific to the stated locations only

US: Hiring Range in USD from: $79,200 to $178,100 per annum. May be eligible for bonus and equity.

Oracle maintains broad salary ranges for its roles in order to account for variations in knowledge, skills, experience, market conditions and locations, as well as reflect Oracle's differing products, industries and lines of business.

Candidates are typically placed into the range based on the preceding factors as well as internal peer equity.

8. Paid time off: Flexible Vacation is provided to all eligible employees assigned to a salaried (non-overtime eligible) position. Accrued Vacation is provided to all other employees eligible for vacation benefits. For employees working at least 35 hours per week, the vacation accrual rate is 13 days annually for the first three years of employment and 18 days annually for subsequent years of employment. Vacation accrual is prorated for employees working between 20 and 34 hours per week. Employees working fewer than 20 hours per week are not eligible for vacation.
