Nutrition Part-Time

Primary Responsibility:
Assists with the development, implementation, and evaluation of nutrition programs.
Specific Responsibilities:
• Implements nutrition education lessons and programs.
• Provides review of ingredients, recipes & menus to ensure compliance with USDA regulations.
• Manage food allergy program and compliance with special dietary needs requirements.
• Conduct and oversee specialized diet and nutrition training for all staff hired.
• Ensure specialized training files and materials are up to date.
• Completes a comprehensive nutritional assessment on each patient upon admission.
• Prepares individualized meal plans that consider the needs of the patient based on the medical recommendations, nutritional, cultural, religious, and ethical concerns.
• Conducts nutrition education groups.
• Facilitates routine cooking classes for staff and residents.
• Works closely with Activities Coordinator to create health and wellness events and programming.
• Complete grocery shopping with residents routinely to help increase their ability to make healthy choices.
• Completes all required documentation and reports in a timely manner, maintaining compliance with the policies and procedures.
• Connect residents and their family members/caregivers with community resources to help meet food and nutrition needs.
• Meal Planning and create a nutrition care plan.
• Participates in planning team meetings and Annual ISP meetings for residents as requested.
• Attends house meetings for residents as needed.
• Participate in federation meetings and meetings pertaining to Weinberg Commons as requested.
• Follows the Jewish Federation policies and procedures.
• Other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
o Bachelor's degree with course work approved by the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics' Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics (ACEND)
o Strong Written and Verbal Communication Skills
o Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
o Preferred three years of professional experience.
o Employs a positive attitude and willingness to learn and be a key member of a team.
o Must be detail-oriented, with great time management skills.
o Experience working with individuals with disabilities.
o Ability and creativity to create differentiated programs to meet the individual needs of residents.
o Submit to a criminal background check and be determined to be not disqualified by the Department of Human Services prior to hire.
o Must cooperate with the licensee and Department of Human Services staff in any inspection, inquiry, or investigation.
o Shall submit to drug testing and receive a clear drug screen prior to employment per Stephen Komninos Law.
o Shall submit to drug testing conducted randomly and for cause.
o Employee must successfully complete and demonstrate proficiency in all areas of required training.
o A requirement that the employee agree to have their name check against the Central Registry of Offenders Against Individuals with Developmental Disabilities
o The employee shall complete an application to have their name checked against the Child Abuse Registry Information (CARI).
o Must have a Driver’s license valid in the state of New Jersey.
