As the Quality Engineer (QE), you will work closely with other disciplines in BAE Systems SMS to support the build and test of payloads and spacecraft hardware in all phases of the program from inception to launch. Your teammates will include Engineering, Test, Manufacturing, Customers, Inspectors, etc.
The Operations Strategic Capabilities Unit plays a fundamental role in enabling efficient business and program execution from strategic capital investments, industrial operations and an efficient supply chain, to state-of-the-art manufacturing and test operations and top-notch facilities management.
What You ll Do:
+ Work as part of a team during all phases of the program lifecycle, supporting design and execution activities under the guidance of leadership and program personnel.
+ Support major program milestone activities such as subcontract procurements, design reviews, testing, configuration control audits, and problem reporting and resolution.
+ Facilitate the formulation and documentation of appropriate Root Cause, Corrective and Preventive Actions associated with product nonconformances.
+ Participate in and eventually chair Material Review Board (MRB) activities to identify the best path forward for nonconforming hardware. This also includes participation in Failure Review Boards (FRBs) for larger program teams.
+ Support test activities by reviewing Test Procedures, Test Anomalies and requirement verification.
+ Support Engineering and Manufacturing by reviewing drawings, work instructions, process plans, build documents and requirements.
+ Participate on the shop floor/cleanroom.
+ Support Test and Manufacturing activities outside of normal business hours as required by being on call or in person. This can include weekends and nights at times depending upon the phase of the program.
+ Maintain a regular and predictable work schedule.
+ Establish and maintain effective working relationships within the department, the Strategic Business Units, Strategic Capabilities Units and the Company. Interact appropriately with others in order to maintain a positive and productive work environment.
+ Perform other duties as necessary.
**On-Site Work Environment:** This position requires regular in-person engagement by working **on-site five days** each normally scheduled week in the primary work location. Travel and local commute between company campuses and other possible non-company locations may be required.
Working Conditions:
+ Work is performed in an office, laboratory, production floor, or cleanroom, outdoors or remote research environment.
+ May occasionally work in production work centers where use of protective equipment and gear is required.
+ May access other facilities in various weather conditions.
Required Education, Experience, & Skills
+ BS degree or higher in Engineering or a related technical field is required.
+ Each higher-level degree, i.e., Master s Degree or Ph.D., may substitute for two years of experience. Related technical experience may be considered in lieu of education. Degree must be from a university, college, or school which is accredited by an agency recognized by the US Secretary of Education, US Department of Education.
+ Good interpersonal skills and ability to work in and contribute to a diverse cross-functional team environment.
+ Willingness to take initiative, be able to complete tasks in a timely manner, and have good time management and organizational skills.

A security clearance or access with Polygraph is not required to be eligible for this position. However, the applicant must be willing and eligible for submission, depending on program requirements, after an offer is accepted and must be able to maintain the applicable clearance/access.
Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills
+ A demonstrated ability to learn aerospace and defense industry and government specifications and standards and the requirements contained therein that guide the design, build, and test of hardware.
+ A demonstrated ability to learn Quality Engineering (QE) principles, tools, methods, and standards.
Pay Information
Full-Time Salary Range: $64926 - $110374
Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
