Job Description
A client of Insight Global’s is seeking a Desktop Linux Engineer to join their team to support, configure, and optimize Linux desktop environments using WSL2 and Ubuntu. Automate deployments with Ansible, manage system updates, and ensure compliance. Troubleshoot technical issues, collaborate with IT and security teams, document processes, and provide user support to maintain a secure, efficient, and scalable desktop infrastructure.

Skills and Requirements
• 3-5 years’ experience with Linux systems (preferably Ubuntu but also Red Hat Enterprise Linux, CentOS) in enterprise environments
• Experience with installing, configuring, and optimizing Linux servers and desktops
• Proficiency in automation and scripting (preferably PowerShell but also Bash or Python)
• Familiarity with container technologies (specifically Docker)
• Familiarity with cloud platforms (preferably Azure) and virtualization (VMware, Nutanix)
• Knowledge of patching, vulnerability remediation, and compliance standards (CIS Benchmarks, DISA STIG)
• Experience with Privileged Access Management (PAM)
• Excellent communication and documentation skills • Experience supporting Mac and Windows environments
• Experience with Ansible, Terraform, or Puppet for automation
• Familiarity with monitoring tools (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK stack, Nagios)
• Linux certifications (CompTIA Linux+, RHCE)
• Experience with Jira for Workforce planning
