The Idaho Transportation Department is hiring a Television Specialist to join our team located in Headquarters - Boise, ID.
The top candidate should have a solid understanding of how each social media channel works and how to optimize content so that it is engaging on those channels. In addition, candidates must a firm grasp of video production, including shooting and editing video for use on social media platforms, the department website and other internal and external communication channels. The top candidate should also have strong interviewing and creative writing skills to be able to produce engaging stories.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
+ Shoot, write and produce videos to support work of Public Information Officers across the state, along with content that supports executive leadership for internal and external communication
+ Assist with building and executing social media strategy through research, platform determination, benchmarking, messaging and audience identification
+ Generate, edit, and publish regular content (original text, photos, video) that build meaningful connections and encourage community members to act
+ Continuously improve by working with team members to capture and analyze the appropriate social data/metrics, insights and best practices, and then acting on the information
+ Work closely with our Social Media Public Information Officer by helping create social media posting schedules, themes and ideas
+ Effectively archive photos and videos in a digital library for ease of access
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Experience:
+ Working within the television medium to produce television programming
+ Writing and editing narrations and scripts in broadcasting journalism style
+ Preparing and conducting interviews in a studio and field setting
+ Following copyright regulations regarding video content, music, narrations and script
+ Operating electronic field production equipment including broadcast quality cameras, lighting equipment, sound systems and editing systems
MQ Specialties - Some positions require
Experience:
+ Conducting and combining research and investigation with visual material into a television format
+ Physical ability to carry up to 50 pounds of equipment for several hours at a time over mountainous terrain
Good knowledge of:
+ Television news operations and decision making
+ Experience in media contact and ability to “sell” a story
+ Experience in using video to communicate scientific and technical information to a general audience
Desired Qualifications
+ Proven working experience in social media marketing or as a digital media specialist
+ Excellent consulting, writing, editing (photo/video/text), presentation and communication skills
+ Demonstrable social networking experience and social analytics tools knowledge
+ Positive attitude, detail and customer oriented with good multitasking and organizational ability
+ Experience in shooting and editing still photographs
+ BS in Communications, Marketing, Business, Broadcast Media or Public Relations, or other related field
