    Job Description:

    **Schedule:** Full Time Nights

    **Shift:** 3 12/hr. shifts, 7pm – 7am with Weekend Rotation

    **Location:** 601 E Rollins St, Orlando, FL 32803

    Unit Description:

    The Vascular Access Services (VAS) team specializes in providing safe, efficient, and skilled placement of vascular access devices. This includes peripherally inserted central catheters (PICCs), midlines, central lines, and ultrasound-guided IVs. The team ensures patients receive reliable vascular access to support therapies such as IV medications, fluids, and nutrition. Our team focuses on the following:

     

    • Advanced practice in ultrasound-guided vascular access, ensuring precision and safety in even the most complex cases

    • Collaborating with interdisciplinary teams, critical care, oncology, surgical, and medical units, to deliver timely access for patients with challenging needs.

    • Troubleshooting line complications and serving as subject matter experts for vascular access device management and care.

    Job Summary:

Follows CDC guidelines for sterile technique and isolation, demonstrates appropriate use of PPE, performs hand hygiene according to policy, and enforces safety regulations. Manages and intervenes appropriately for the patient with current venous access issues, including prioritization, appropriate venous access choice for age, therapy, and any current complication’s impact on the needs for IV therapy. Participates in practice changes resulting from performance improvement activities and supports departmental quality standards and initiatives. Evaluates the need for and provide patient teaching in all aspects of the venous access specialty. Identifies individualized plan of care based on patients’ needs related to both infusion therapy and venous access consult and intervenes appropriately. Evaluates patients’ developmental level, identify increased physical/emotional dependency needs, and evaluate the availability of support systems consistent with assessment. Performs and documents all procedures and assessments according to department policy. Obtains patient assessment, evaluating diagnosis, previous medical history, existing infusion-related complications, and ordered therapy as it relates to current venous access consult. Administers treatments and medications, interprets and verifies physician orders, and evaluates the effectiveness of interventions. Functions appropriately in Code Blue and other clinical emergencies. Demonstrates continuous competency in specific procedures related to venous access and infusion therapy. Provides expert resourcing to staff nurses and other departments as consulted.

    Pay Range:

    $31.53 - $52.24
