Job Description:

Other duties as assigned. Transports hazardous waste from the point of generation to a designated secure storage area, completing initial and refresher training for proper handling and disposal. Performs pre-analytical activities related to laboratory testing, including equipment maintenance, function checks, inventory control, specimen collection, biological specimen processing, cleaning and disinfection, quality control, and calibration. Participates in proficiency testing, adhering to federal and state regulations as well as hospital policies. Performs post-analytical activities related to laboratory testing, including reporting results and providing technical and support information for all age groups. Provides leadership and mentoring to technicians and support staff, resolves customer service issues, and supports education for clinical staff. Performs clerical and receptionist duties to support department operations. Maintains workspaces in a neat, organized, and properly supplied manner, storing and safeguarding documentation and paperwork. Facilitates workflow and participates in laboratory and hospital performance improvement activities, including evaluating new equipment and procedures. Adheres to the hospital Corporate Compliance Plan and all applicable local, state, and federal regulations, protecting patient information confidentiality. Follows safety policies, including the use of PPE, handwashing, and hazardous chemical handling, and demonstrates understanding of the Chemical Hygiene plan and Infection Control policies. Conducts all expected tests and analytical procedures efficiently and accurately according to hospital procedures, performance standards, and competency standards.

Pay Range:

$24.01 - $44.65
