    New York University School of Law seeks applicants for a two-year clinical teaching fellowship. This Fellowship commences during the summer of 2026 and ends during the summer of 2028. It is designed for lawyers with at least three years of practice who are considering a career in law school teaching. The fellow will work with the Civil Rights in the Criminal Legal System Clinic and the Critical Race Lawyering Civil Rights Clinic. Responsibilities include (i) supervising law students on cases and impact advocacy projects, and serving as a mentor and role model to law students in the clinics; (ii) helping to design and teach clinic seminar classes and facilitating case rounds; and (iii) sharing in the administrative responsibilities of the clinics. All work will be conducted with the support of the clinical faculty and will focus on providing legal assistance to low-income clients. All interested persons are encouraged to apply.

     

    Candidates must be able to work both independently and as part of a team and must possess strong written and oral communication skills.

     

    In compliance with New York City's Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary for this position is $110,000.

    Description of the Clinics

     

    The Civil Rights in the Criminal Legal System Clinic represents people who have suffered civil rights violations while incarcerated or under criminal justice supervision. In the Critical Race Lawyering Civil Rights Clinic law students engage in direct representation of individual or organizational clients in areas where discrimination and inequality are pervasive. The clinic specifically focuses on issues impacting marginalized communities in the South.

    The successful fellowship candidate will have:

    + Experience providing civil legal services to low-income clients;

    + Minimum of 3 years of post-J.D. legal experience;

    + Membership in the New York Bar (if not already a member of the New York Bar, must apply for admission by waiver or take the New York Bar exam); and

    + An interest in clinical teaching.
