    Job Summary

    Hawkeye Community College’s Institutional Research office, which is integral to maintaining the State and Regional accreditation of the College, is looking for a full-time Associate Director of Curriculum and Assessment to join their team. The Institutional Research department is the keeper of our college data which is utilized for internal and external reporting to maintain state and federal compliance and enable college staff and faculty to make data-informed decisions. The department plays a key role in supporting the efforts of curriculum management, the assessment of student learning outcomes, and the Career and Technical academic program review process.

     

    In this role, you will support our Institutional Research Office while providing leadership in the development, review, and maintenance of our credit curriculum. You will help ensure our programs meet institutional, state, and federal requirements and play a key role in program approval, reporting, and accreditation efforts with the Iowa Department of Education, the Higher Learning Commission, and other accrediting bodies. You will work closely with faculty and academic deans to align credit and non-credit coursework, creating clear pathways for students and maintaining curriculum that supports student learning and institutional effectiveness. Our position also leads the development and maintenance of articulation agreements with Iowa’s transfer partners, helping students successfully move toward their next academic goal.

    Essential Job Functions

    Important responsibilities and duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:

    Curriculum Development & Review

    + Coordinates the development, revision, and approval of credit curriculum, including new courses, programs, program modifications, and non-credit equivalencies.

    + Participates in academic planning and strategic initiatives related to new program development, transfer pathways, and workforce alignment.

    + Maintains a comprehensive curriculum review calendar and track program and course changes.

    + Facilitates clear pathways for students by aligning curriculum with Guided Pathways principles and transfer initiatives.

    + Oversees the web-based curriculum management system (META) for compliance with state and federal code and accreditation guidelines.

    + Works closely with the Curriculum Committee chair(s) regarding process support, forms, and timelines.

    Assessment

    + Collaborates with faculty and academic leadership to support and coordinate course-level assessment processes to measure student learning outcomes.

    + Coordinates Career and Technical Education (CTE) program-level assessment to meet state and federal requirements, including program improvement planning.

    + Steers co-curricular assessment to capture student learning outcomes.

    + Collects, analyzes, and reports assessment data for continuous improvement.

    + Works closely with the Assessment Committee Chair(s) to offer advice on design, assessment practices, campus initiatives, and state reporting requirements.

    + Supports faculty in integrating assessment results into program improvement and strategic planning efforts.

    + Oversees the Career and Technical academic program review system.

    Compliance and Reporting

    + Coordinates state-level program approval and reporting to the Iowa Department of Education, ensuring compliance with Iowa Code and Administrative Rules as a college administrator of the State of Iowa Curriculum System (STICS).

    + Ensures curriculum and assessment processes meet accreditation standards required by the Higher Learning Commission and specialized program accreditors.

    + Monitors and implement changes in state, federal, and accreditor requirements impacting curriculum and program assessment.

    + Coordinates internal compliance documentation and evidence for audits, accreditation visits, and state reviews.

    Institutional Research

    + Ensures data integrity for program review and reporting.

    + Uses Ellucian Insights to assist with report writing and development (e.g. assessment information, retention, student progress, etc.)

    + Assists in monitoring and coordinating the Institutional Review Board (IRB) processes for undergraduate and graduate research.

    + Serves as a point of contact for routine data requests and directs more complex inquiries to the Director or analyst as appropriate.

    + Ensures curriculum and assessment processes support institutional accreditation, Guided Pathways, and strategic goals.

    + Serves as an active member of internal committees (e.g., Curriculum Committee, Assessment Committee, Academic Council) and statewide working groups as a representative of the IR Office.

    + Participates in campus committees as assigned.

    + Performs other duties as assigned.

    + Unless otherwise approved under Hawkeye’s remote work policy, regular on campus and/or onsite attendance is considered an essential function of the position.

    Minimum Qualifications

    + Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Education, or related area and at least 3 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired such as experience in curriculum development, assessment, academic administration or faculty/instruction.

    + Strong organizational and communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively across departments.

    + Demonstrated ability to conduct research, prepare professional reports and present data in a clear and concise manner using a variety of tools and presentation strategies

    + Demonstrated ability to work independently with limited supervision and exhibit professional judgment, problem solving and decision making.

    + Demonstrated ability to understand complex rules, procedures, and state codes.

    + Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and meet state and accreditation deadlines.

    + Demonstrated ability to work with a wide array of students, faculty, staff, and the general public.

    + Ability to demonstrate strong interpersonal communication.

    + Skilled in Microsoft Office Suite, Google applications, and video conferencing technology.

    + Demonstrated ability to execute organization and department policies and procedures.

    + Demonstrated ability to handle confidential/sensitive information with discretion.

    Preferred Qualifications

    + Demonstrated knowledge of Iowa community college system, curriculum development processes, assessment, and compliance requirements.

    + Master’s degree.

    + Experience in curriculum management systems, assessment tracking, and catalog software.

    + Familiarity with competency-based education, outcomes assessment, and accreditation reporting.

    + Experience working with faculty governance and statewide articulation agreements.

    + Knowledge of Iowa Department of Education program approval processes and CTE reporting requirements.

     

    Working Conditions

     

    Anticipated schedule is Monday – Friday from 8:00am – 4:30 pm with occasional evening or weekend hours based on business need.

     

    Work is performed either in or a combination of an office setting and/or classroom setting using technology. Requires good hand-eye coordination including visual acuity to use a keyboard and read technical information; arm, hand and finger dexterity, including ability to grasp. Sit, stand, bend, lift and move frequently during working hours. During course of day, interact with students, faculty and staff in person, by telephone and computers.

     

    Employment Status

     

    Full-time, exempt position with comprehensive or competitive benefits program including health, dental, vision, life, and LTD insurance, a Section 125 plan for medical and dependent care expenses; holiday, personal, sick, and vacation leave; tuition reimbursement / tuition remission; and a choice of retirement programs—IPERS (defined benefit) or TIAA (defined contribution).

     

    + Salary will be determined with the candidate’s education, experience and internal equity.

    + The salary/wage range for this position begins at $65,200.
