    Hourly Child Care Interventionist

     

    As a Child Care Interventionist at New Leaf Family Center, you play a vital role in supporting young children during critical stages of emotional, social, and developmental growth. By providing consistent, relationship-based care in a therapeutic early childhood setting, you help create a safe, structured environment where children can build trust, develop regulation skills, and experience positive daily routines. Your work directly supports each child’s ability to grow, learn, and thrive while contributing to a coordinated, team-based approach to care.

    Duties & Responsibilities

     

    + Provide direct, on-site support to children through daily programming that promotes developmental, social, and emotional growth.

    + Assist in planning and carrying out age-appropriate activities aligned with individualized needs and group goals.

    + Support children in managing emotions and behaviors using developmentally appropriate, trauma-informed strategies.

    + Follow and implement standards established by NAEYC, Vermont Department of Licensing, and New Leaf Family Center.

    + Maintain a safe, nurturing, and structured environment at all times.

    + Communicate observations and relevant information with the supervising clinician and program team.

    + Participate in ongoing training and professional development related to program goals.

     

    Education & Experience

     

    + Bachelor’s degree in human services, education, psychology, or a related field preferred; candidates actively working toward a BA/BS will be considered.

    + Minimum of two years of early childhood experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

    + Experience working with children who have emotional or behavioral challenges preferred.

     

    Knowledge & Competencies

     

    + Understanding of early childhood development and relationship-based care.

    + Ability to engage children in a supportive, structured, and developmentally appropriate manner.

    + Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team.

    + Alignment with and commitment to the philosophy and goals of New Leaf Family Center.

    + Willingness to grow professionally through training, feedback, and supervision.

    + Ability to safely lift and carry up to 50 pounds.

    Work Environment

    This is an active, hands-on role within a therapeutic early childhood program. Child Care Interventionists move throughout classrooms and shared spaces to support children and daily routines. Staff work collaboratively, stepping in to provide coverage for one another as needed to ensure continuity of care and a safe, consistent environment for children. Flexibility, teamwork, and shared responsibility are essential components of this program.

     

    Compensation and Benefits: This hourly position offers an hourly rate of $21.28/hr. and excellent benefits.  P art-time regular positions receive 12 days’ vacation and 12 days sick time annually - prorated based on standard hours.
