We have an exciting new opportunity at Caterpillar for a Research & Data Consultant to provide strategic, timely, cost effective, accurate, and relevant intelligence to the worldwide employees of Caterpillar by performing research, answering inquiries, and providing information and analysis that contributes to the decision making and success of corporate and business unit objectives. The candidate will serve as the technical contact for information platforms developed and deployed by the information center for enterprise-wide use. The successful candidate will also spend approximately 15% of their time managing local library requests, processes, tools, and the strategic vision of the physical resource library in Irving, Texas.
What You Will Do:
+ Monitoring competitive and industry news and compiling and publishing a curated weekly newsletter for global employee consumption.
+ Serving as the technical point of contact for the development, maintenance, and growth of a Snowflake data warehouse which serves as an enterprise central repository for external company, industry, and industrial project data.
+ Performing data analysis and creating visualizations in Power BI to meet business needs. Create, deploy, and maintain GenAI agents on structured and unstructured data and help formulate strategy and best practices around using technologies to derive meaningful insights around external business information.
+ Maintaining and cataloging a small collection of print materials at the corporate headquarters location.
+ Assisting in the development, maintenance, content collection, and training of Goldmine, Caterpillar’s Intelligence Portal, including measuring user satisfaction of services provided through periodic surveys, analyzing survey responses and seeking means for continuous improvement.
+ Identifying and evaluating current technologies, information resources, and services related to the field of information collection, storage, and delivery and deploying these solutions across the enterprise.
+ Managing multi-channel reference and research inquiries from global Caterpillar employees on a wide variety of business, industry, competitive, and management topics.
+ Incorporating library services and leading local effort to increase/maintain awareness of library resources and services, including creating and delivering presentations and utilizing enterprise-wide communication tools to promote and train on library resources and services.
+ Maintaining and utilizing networks of people and resources for obtaining Voice of the Business to further library and information services within Caterpillar.
What You Have:
+ **Education/Experience:** Masters Degree in Library & Information Science with Data Science experience, Informatics, Bachelors of Science in Information Science + Data Science, or BS Data Engineering or Analytics with a background in a corporate or library environment. Considerable experience in data science/engineering and library/information services desired.
+ **Business Analysis:** Knowledge of business analysis and the set of tasks, techniques and tools required to identify business needs; ability to recommend solutions that deliver value to stakeholders.
+ **Active Learning:** Understanding the necessity for continuous personal growth and learning; ability to gauge one's strengths, limitations, and interests accurately, and use this knowledge for purposes of performance effectiveness self-development
+ **Effective Communications:** Understanding of effective communication concepts, tools and techniques; ability to effectively transmit, receive, and accurately interpret ideas, information, and needs through the application of appropriate communication behaviors.

+ **Interpersonal Relationships:** Knowledge of the techniques and the ability to work with a variety of individuals and groups in a constructive and collaborative manner.
+ **Competitive Environment:** Knowledge of business market concepts and principles; ability to utilize the processes, tools, and techniques for gathering, analyzing, and communicating information about the competitive environment.
+ **Market Research:** Knowledge of market research; ability to collect, collate and analyze information about existing or potential markets and market needs.
Additional Information:
+ The primary location for this position is at our Global Headquarters in Irving, Texas
+ Limited travel required, conference/trade show travel and/or travel to the Business Resource Center in Peoria, IL or other Caterpillar facilities. (Less than 5% of working time)

Summary Pay Range:
$112,710.00 - $169,060.00
Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
