Phlebotomist

Position Summary:
The phlebotomist will be required to perform procedures to include venipuncture, capillary puncture, and indwelling lines. The phlebotomist is also responsible for accurate patient identification and proper labeling of specimens. The phlebotomist must also be able to communicate with patients, doctors, and other hospital staff.
Education:
High School graduate or equivalent preferred. Completion of a phlebotomy training course or on the job training with at least one year of phlebotomy experience in a CAP certified hospital laboratory preferred. CPR certification required, PBT (ASCP), CPT (ASCP) or equivalent preferred.
Training and Experience:
1. Must have a thorough understanding of Clinical Laboratory procedures.
2. BLS obtained per American Heart Association guidelines required within 90 days of hire.
