    This **Phenotyping Specialist** position will work with the testing team to provide phenotyping support on high priority programs. The Specialist ensures all advanced phenotyping related activities are planned and collected in a timely manner according to company standards and protocols. The phenotyping specialist will work to ensure all phenotyping data is processed, uploaded, and quality checked for all crops at the center prior to advancements.

    What You'll Do:

    Data Collection & Analysis

    + Lead data collection efforts for corn and soybean testing programs, ensuring high-quality data.

    + Validate and ensure the accuracy of collected data.

    + Use technology (drones, iPads, software tools) to collect, evaluate, and distribute data following detailed protocols.

    + Provide data summaries and perform data analysis

    + Have a general understanding/interest in mapping software, statistics, GPS/GIS systems, advanced drone technology, image analysis, and open to learning beyond current experiences.

    Field & Seed Lab Operations

    + Assist with corn nursery pollination and harvest activities, ensuring proper handling of all harvested seed.

    + Support root, stalk, willowing and anthracnose screening.

    + Help with seed lab activities, including spreadsheet manipulation, seed sorting, shelling, inventorying, and supervision of hourly employees.

    + Support station efforts in seed inventory/winter nursery management and shipping.

    Field Logistics and Collaboration

    + Lead planting and harvest activities

    + Maintain phenotyping equipment and coordinate with regional phenotyping and logistic leads to ensure equipment availability.

    + Travel to offsite locations, generally within Missouri, with extended hours during peak seasons (April/May, July, September).

    + Work with the Ops Lead, supervisors and regional team to plan collection, timing, and execution of all phenotyping notes for Corn and Soy.

    + Maintain collaborative contacts between the Station Ops Lead and regional Breeding scientists to meet research goals.

    + Monitor yield test and nursery locations to assess plot quality and data collection opportunities.

    Safety & Compliance

    + Be an integrated member of the Miami, MO team, participating in regional safety committees and audits.

    + Administer center-wide safety programs and comply with all center and company policies.

    What Skills You Need:

    + Bachelor’s degree in agronomy or related field

    + Computer skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, electronic database entries, image processing)

    + Ability to independently deliver solutions by asking the right questions, identifying necessary data sources/features, and producing actionable results.

    + Ability to work independently and as a team member.

    + Self-motivated, goal-oriented and attention to detail; passion for solving problems using new techniques and ‘can-do’ attitude.

    + Proficient writing, speaking, organizational and computer skills are needed.

    + Will be required to do physical lifting and work outdoors and in varying ergonomic environments. Must be capable of lifting 50 pounds

    + Willing and able to work a flexible schedule including shift work

    + Additional overtime hours, weekends, and overnight stays might be required during seasonal peak periods like planting and harvest

    + Driver’s License, acceptable driving record, and ability to obtain CMV

    + Willingness to obtain appropriate pesticide applicator license/certification
