    Description

    The Regional Construction Director oversees all construction operations within the assigned region, including asset management, project management, and field supervision. This role provides leadership to Project Managers, Assistant Project Managers, Superintendents, and Supervisors to ensure projects are executed safely, efficiently, and in alignment with Cotton’s standards for quality and customer service. The Director is responsible for driving operational performance, maintaining project profitability, and supporting the consistent delivery of construction services across the region.

     

    What You’ll Do

    Operational Leadership & Project Oversight

    • Oversee all construction operations for assigned regions.

    • Coordinate with Construction Project Coordinators to ensure appropriate management and staffing across projects.

    • Ensure adherence to construction protocols, project policies, procedures, and quality standards.

    • Monitor project progress, review status reports, and provide weekly production updates to the EVP.

    • Manage construction schedules to ensure timely project completion and delivery.

    • Conduct regular job site visits to monitor work in progress and ensure compliance with plans, specifications, and building codes.

    Team Management & Development

    • Lead and directly manage Project Managers, Assistant Project Managers, Superintendents, and Supervisors.

    • Assign PMs/APMs to projects and monitor workload balance.

    • Provide coaching, mentorship, and performance feedback to team members.

    • Conduct formal performance evaluations and recommend training, development, and career growth opportunities.

    • Identify high-potential candidates and provide hiring recommendations.

    • Support the development and implementation of project personnel training programs.

    Financial Management & Cost Control

    • Control costs on all construction projects to maintain budget alignment and profitability.

    • Monitor and analyze gross profit on active construction projects.

    • Participate in budget development, forecasting, and financial reviews.

    • Assist with vendor and supplier payment approvals as required.

    Safety, Quality & Compliance

    • Ensure all Cotton and OSHA safety standards are met on every construction project.

    • Direct project-level safety initiatives and coordinate with the Health & Safety Officer for sites requiring elevated oversight.

    • Ensure proper staffing of safety personnel across construction projects.

    • Lead quality assurance efforts, ensuring compliance with company standards and client expectations.

    Vendor, Client & Stakeholder Management

    • Oversee vendor relations, subcontractor performance evaluation, and contract approvals for vendors and suppliers.

    • Support conflict resolution with staff, vendors, or clients to ensure timely and effective resolution.

    • Assist with vendor contracts, scopes, budgets, and site safety plans.

    • Oversee customer service and warranty support on construction projects.

    • Manage permit and inspection issues as needed.

    Process Improvement & Operational Efficiency

    • Develop, implement, and refine workflows and processes for daily construction operations.

    • Review project production weekly and ensure consistent performance standards across teams.

    • Support integration, communication, and alignment across operational staff and project teams.

    Work Experience

    + 8 to 10 years of management experience overseeing construction operations, field teams, or project management groups.

    + Strong background in commercial construction, restoration, or large-scale field operations.

    + Experience leading multi-site project teams and managing high-volume, fast-paced work environments.

    + Strong construction knowledge.

    + Good driving record (required for insurability to drive a company vehicle and represent the company).

    + Minimum age of twenty-one (21) with at least three (3) years of verifiable driving experience.

    + No more than one (1) moving violation in the past three years.

    + No repeat seat belt violations.

    + No high-speed moving violations in the past three years.

    + Ability to get in and out of a vehicle frequently and drive for the majority of the workday to and from appointments and the office.

    + Ability to sit or stand for long periods of time to complete paperwork or manage job sites in the field.

    + Ability to lift 50 lbs.

    + Ability to work in a smoky environment.

    + Ability to travel throughout the United States and potentially internationally for extended periods (to proactively chase, consult, market, secure business, and meet project needs).

    + Ability to work an on-call schedule, which may require late evenings, early mornings, weekends, and long extended hours with little notice.
